Well done BFC

Great news.

Excellent signing!

06-01-2014, 04:44 PM
Glad to hear it ;D

Well chuffed...and well deserved for Sam

At last a useful forward we're keeping. Well done Sean...well done the Board.

Dyche said he didn't want to have contract discussions with the players because he didn't want to disrupt the team like last season. I'm not saying that Vokes scored on Saturday after an 8(?) game goal drought because this is resolved but surely we need to be very very careful.

The obvious question that springs to mind now is what about Ings?

Happy! Let's now nail down the rest!

06-01-2014, 05:01 PM
Excellent, happy with this.

06-01-2014, 05:01 PM
I don't think there's any way Ings would sign a new contract before summer because he thinks (with good reason) that he'll get a Premier League contract, one way or the other.

06-01-2014, 05:06 PM
Good news and I am glad he feels able to put down roots after his former travels around a number of clubs.

06-01-2014, 05:06 PM
Vokes signing is the first of two pieces of good news. The second is Wallace playing 45 mins today at Wolves. Will be like a new signing once he is fully fit.

06-01-2014, 05:11 PM
This is fantastic news! Come on leaps and bounds under Dyche. Delighted.

06-01-2014, 05:22 PM
'Wallace like a new signing' wonder if the PR department will wheel that one out on 31st January!!!!

06-01-2014, 05:42 PM
Really, really pleased he's staying, and really glad to see that he's happy here.

06-01-2014, 06:15 PM
Whilst this is good news, do contracts/contract expiry dates really mean anything these days?

06-01-2014, 06:18 PM
He's been a revelation this season. Excellent news.

06-01-2014, 06:18 PM
Helps us to get a better fee should we decide to sell Sam in the next few years but hopefully won't come to that.

"The second is Wallace playing 45 mins today at Wolves. Will be like a new signing once he is fully fit."

Someone from BFC posting on here? Wallace will warm the bench if he's lucky.

Vokes new contract is terrific news though, he's been great this season and will keep getting better.

06-01-2014, 06:37 PM
I don't think we are looking to sell him. Should we need to sell there's certainly one striker who will bring in more.

06-01-2014, 06:39 PM
... will warm the bench if he's lucky.

Some would have said that about Vokes at the start of the season.

I think you are under-estimating the value of a fully fit Ross Wallace under the guidance of SD

Apart from this much-hyped ability to run interference for Tripper, what exactly does Wallace bring to the team that we aren't getting anyway at the minute ?

Arfield's better from open play, Jones and Trippier take better set-pieces.

"I think you are under-estimating the value of a fully fit Ross Wallace under the guidance of SD"

If he can get Wallace performing to the standards that Ings/Vokes/Shackell have set, then he is indeed "ginger mourinho"

I can see this turning in to a Chris McCann type thread.
You know the one, the longer a player is out injured, the more they will become our Messiah when they return.

06-01-2014, 07:37 PM
Excellent news - a top player who has shown the perils of writing a player off at the age of 23.

Can be a big player for us over the next two or three years - someone you can build teams around.

"He's been a revelation this season. Excellent news."

Bob on!

Chuffed to bits!

Superb news. Big Sam has been tremendous this season
- Great mobility for a big man
- Fantastic in the air and (Oh Gareth Taylor if only you had been like him) very rarely concedes free kicks when challenging
- no slouch on the ground ...tremendous feet to set up the shot which nearly put us 3-2 up on Sat
- great hold-up play and brings others into the game constantly
- can spot a pass, esp to Danny Ings ! ...the 1st v QPR the best example of many
- Great attitude

Top man Sam Vokes and well done BFC today.

06-01-2014, 08:38 PM
dsr: if this is the case, then why not offer Ingsy an extended contract with a release clause should we receive a bid of a certain amount - that way, both club and player have a commitment with incentive.

06-01-2014, 09:13 PM
It's great to see Sam finally getting some deserved recognition this season. He's still relatively young for a target man and is still learning his craft

I don't usually like to say "I told you so" ;)

06-01-2014, 10:26 PM
Very very good news, and well done to SD and the board for their backing.

06-01-2014, 10:43 PM
This is brilliant news. Sam has been fantastic and really has been our "new signing" when Sir Charlie left. Each game I see him play now I say just how good he is, workrate, hold up play, link up play etc. I think Howe knew he was a good player but Dyche has given him the belief to become better. It also helps having a Danny Ings playing off him of course.

As for Ings, no way will he sign another contract with us. We are in the exact same position with Jay and Charlie. If we don't go up this season, he'll be gone (with our blessing), if we do go up he'll get a Premier League contract. Ings holds all the cards.

Danny Ings might amaze us and demonstrate a bit of loyalty. An extended contract with escape clauses must surely be in his best interests..?

07-01-2014, 09:42 AM
Superb work from the management and player.
Ings will be a different matter, I just hope we insist on decent money and he goes to a big club - somewhere like West Ham, for instance, would be a lucrative yet pointless move.

07-01-2014, 10:01 AM
Quattro - no reason at all why the club wouldn't offer that sort of contract. But why would Ings sign it?

09-01-2014, 07:47 PM
Just realized going back through results so far this season 10 goals in league and one in cup, yet before he really played under Sean Dyche he was a journeyman who was not doing anything of note, hats off to the Manager and backroom boys regarding Sammy boy, has he is a revelation this year and new contract was well deserved. UTC onwards and Upwards is where we are going this year boys.
