Only found this by chance, but he's now an agent and has set up his business locally called Elevate Sports Management.

I wonder if Stan is on his books

This old news, he has been in the area for a while, I'm sure I read this a few years ago.

Very true claptrappers_union. Have had the old one-two with Steve in the Brewers Fayre on the odd occasion when I have been in town! Always good to get the latest gossip.

Did anyone else have a good god no moment when they saw the Steve Blatherwick?

Steve didn't have a great time with us but proved to a be a good pro at the lower levels across his career.

Steve Blatherwick was a very decent central defender at the level he played. Very popular with the Chesterfield fans, and I think he might have replaced Sean Dyche at Saltergate.

I still reckon we'd have done better with him than without him in that 1998/99 season.

"Yes, got rather bombed out by Stan didn't he?"

Yep, one of the famous four.

think he was one of 3 signings in one day (week ?) by Waddle when he became manager. At the time remember being impressed by Waddle's speed in the transfer market alas my delight did not last long. Think Ford was another and someone else I cannot remember. The best of a bad bunch and did OK in my opinion.

The other was Chris Woods who came in as goalkeeping coach but did well when he played at the end of the season

Did Winstanley make his way back into the team?

Ah, Mark Ford. Supposed to be the next David Batty, played more like Nora.

The four Stan sacked was hardly decent in fact given the circumstances at the time I bet he would have sacked more if he could. They were all poor and if that was the standard to be accepted we would have been back in division 3. No disrespect to chesterfield but Steve Blatherwick may have got away with it there.

I'm sure Mark Ford was England U21 Capt at some point. Blatherwick had a really good career at Chesterfield after leaving us.

Bloody hell, I saw Michael Williams when we got beat 1-0 at Morecambe in a pre-season friendly and I have only ever seen one worse performance in a Burnley shirt and that was Sheila Easton in a league match at Barnsley. Thank God those days are well and truly over!

I remember being genuinely excited when we signed Mark Ford. Enola has it right.

Have watched the odd game at Chesterfield for years and saw Blatherwick a couple of times.
He was pretty good with them. The fans liked him.
Sadly never saw him play that well for us.

Remember (just about) Mark Ford joining in Burnley chants in smacks the night we beat Plymouth to stay up!
