News of a share scheme from BFC - see link - view external link (www.clarets-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/burnley_seek_fans_investment_821039/index.shtml)

Thanks CT. Where should we go to get more details.

10-01-2014, 08:39 AM
It was first mentioned at the shareholders meeting although there weren't any details at the time.

I would think Anthony Fairclough might be the first port of call for enquiries. If not he'll be able to direct you.

His email address will be:

If they'd set the limit at 990 quid instead of 9900 I think they'd have had a lot more takers. Particularly as they're offering zero interest and the shares ultimately have no value.

How much are they hoping to raise through this?

10-01-2014, 08:57 AM
I think they've done their homework and I suspect setting it at that price will, they think, bring in more, which I think I'd agree with.

I don't know how much they hope to raise, but I believe they've had some real positive interest already. I'd do it if I could afford it.

Interesting, I imagine that those who do invest in it will, in the majority of cases, view it as a "hobby" investment rather than something serious as realising the value in BFC shares isn't easy.

Is it being opened in time for this season where we have a relatively good chance of promotion?

I imagine the limit is partly to cut the admin costs, you don't really want to have to deal with loads of small amounts.

"Is it being opened in time for this season where we have a relatively good chance of promotion?"

Open now I'm told

DiBraidio mentions a limit of A?9900 but my reading of it is that it's a minimum of A?9,900??

The articles states - 'This offer to a limited number of Burnley fans has a minimum participation of A?9,900 per individual. This minimum investment will either result in 33 shares for A?33 in the event of promotion or 66 shares for A?9,900 otherwise' - I don't understand the last bit of this which refers to either 33 shares for A?33 or 66 shares for A?9,900. Can someone explain this, please.

PS - Don't know why pound sign is showing as A?

DiBraidio is referring to the minimum limit not a maximum.

As for the pound sign - I've reported it often enough but still not working.

CT could Clarets Mad do something on the lines of the special shirt scheme of a few years back? If 100 clarets madders chipped in GBP99 each would the Club accept shares in a "corporate"name?

10-01-2014, 11:32 AM
It could but I'd expect people pledging that sort of money to be wanting shares in their own

10-01-2014, 12:25 PM
I cant help thinking there must be a number of ways as a collective we can raise investment i would suggest a club/fans meeting and lets the ideas pop up :D

10-01-2014, 12:32 PM
It cold be less than 99 quid though, even 500 fans giving 20 would be decent... It all goes to the club. Could raffle off thes of all contributors to find out who's it's in.

Id be up for that

Its an interesting scheme, albeit not one which carries a great deal of incentive to the investor unless they really want to go nuts and potentially get themselves a sufficient stake to have some form of influence at a slightly knocked down price.

But then, I suppose it only takes 30 investors willing to put up say 30k and you've got a million quid banked - capital which is worth having.

IF we could raise a stake between Clarets Madders is a brilliant idea.

Chipping in 20 quid is feasible for a fair number of fans but finding 500 people might prove to be a stumbling block though.

It's worth canvassing I would think and I would definitely support a plan like that.

10-01-2014, 03:13 PM
I'm sure it could be done but we would need to find 500 and that's a big ask.

10-01-2014, 03:14 PM
well I have it, and I'm not doing it, I would expect a return, and I would even accept a return at half the rate made by Directors on their loans. That in itself is beneficial to the club as it dilutes the cost of the gravy train.

Talk about "other people's money!" :?

10-01-2014, 03:29 PM
This is for people with more money than sense.

Poor investment "opportunity." Playing on emotional attachment to the club.

10-01-2014, 05:20 PM
How about 200 people by GBP50 each? I would chip in so that leaves 199 :D
