What happened to it? Alistair Mann is on Match of The Day. But what about the rest? Where is Jim Beglin? Lou Macari was a regular, and of course, how could we forget, Mr:Sir:Elton:Welsby... Do they all work in Birkenhead 1 bakery?

'We all know what Elton Welsby is'

Is he a Spanish heavy object for mooring a ship?

A banker (please excuse any spelling mistakes)

Rob McCaffrey.
All he was short of was a bolt through his neck. :)

So not a Juanchor then?

Unfortunately Granada Soccer Night has been replaced by 'My 40 Stone Mum'

That's the sort of programme the masses demand now.

Whatever happened to Gerald Sinclair. Did he ever return after being spotted going into a strip club?

Sunday afternoon football highlights were great too.

Whenever I hear Alistair Mann I always get flashbacks to the 91/92 season highlights especially the 5-0 against Northampton

"That was intentional and so was that"
"5-0. 5 different scorers"

Thanks Irish for the correction. Wasn't a bad commentator but was discredited after being spotted going into a strip club. Shame really.

Made Sunday afternoon highlights his own in the 70's.

Why can't we see more League Football on telly. Surely there is a sponsor out there. Not everyone only ever wants to watch EPL.

The football league ought to hawk it around to the highest bidder and give the lower leagues a boost.

Link to the best bit of the programme.

Not so much the highlight of Northside's career as the one shining light in a sea of Madchester-by-numbers sludge. - view external link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AShsOgwCG0)

Deserved to be axed just for using the word soccer

"The football league ought to hawk it around to the highest bidder and give the lower leagues a boost."

The Football League did hawk it around to the highest bidder which is why it is on Sky.

'We all know what Elton Welsby is'

I saw Elton Welsby at the Mechanics about 5 years ago. For some reason he was appearing with Ricky Tomlinson.

On introducing himself he said it was the first time he'd been to Burnley and not been greeted with the chant of Elton Welsby is a w@nker'.
