When we go up, please could you remove goal music?

In fact in advance of that would be even better. Celebrating the goal(s) that seal promotion require no goal music.

Kind regards
The Town of Burnley and all of its supporters!

It was removed once and was restored on the instructions of a director.

Can't say which but he left and came back. :D

Did they have a flood of requests for the music?

Well that is not music to my ears!

I struggle to see how or why anyone would want this?

Anyone on this board genuinely like it?

What does it add?

Problem is the thing has been done to death. The club even had a survey done through 2BR when there was overwhelming support to stop it. But it carries on.

The goal music is pathetic, patronising, and profoundly annoying. It ruins rather than enhances goal celebrations. And if, God forbid, it was to be kept next season, it would certainly make us a 'tinpot' laughing-stock among rival supporters.

I agree with the OP : let's please, please, get rid of it.

This is the world of football's prime example of self-parody. I love it when the opposing team's supporters score and start dancing to our song and then we go and smash another couple past them! Cue - ridiculous self parody!

So we agree its of no advantage to our team or Supporters/Customers when it is played.. maybe it's an advantage to some individuals in the game. Just a thought.

I want them to change the music to:

"Up, Up and away in my beautiful claret and blue balloon! Up, up and away..."

Seriously, maybe it's just the wrong tune that they play. Any ideas for a replacement?

I prefer "Welcome to the jungle"

I must admit that it did sound awesome when we were the only club to have it, very original and lets face it, its been around the turf since the div 4 days and copied (annoyingly) by quite a few clubs.
I say time to shelve it has come, lets leave it to the pie-eating smegheads of Wigan.

If this is to turn into a petition to get rid, here's my vote.

As has been said, very tinpot.

Goal music: pointless, pathetic, annoying.

I vote "Get Rid."

'Puerile' is another good word, Chekhov, eh ?

Another vote for get rid. Awful music. But unfortunately I do get carried away and join in when it's played.

Look at it another way.

If it keeps one director happy it is still better than having a half sozzled Delia Smith shouting at you at half time, being asked to change team colours/team, or indeed having new sponsors suggesting that Turf Moor becomes "My Little Pony" TM stadium.

Small mercies.

But a change of music would be nice...

Well, I'll not be cowed by the vitriol spewed by other posters. It's fine - there's nothing wrong with it to my ears. What would you like instead, the deafening sound of silence from most of Turf Morgue as enjoyed for most of the 90 minutes each week? Perhaps the endless stream of witty and inventive songs our fans come up with year after year are more to your taste? Or maybe you're too intellectual for music and a Nietzschian diatribe questioning the reality of the goal is more your thing?

I'd rather have my ears syringed with a poker than listen to Tom Hark at the best of times. Maybe we'd just like to listen to the crowd roar. It certainly won't be a morgue next season if we go up. If we absolutely had to have music I'd want something local..maybe Milltown Brothers Here I Stand when we take the lead and Chumbawumba when we 'get up again' and score after falling behind. Preferably nothing though.

It's as much a part of the essential Turf matchday experience as a meat and potato pie and Bovril.

I'm all for it.

We hear all this whingeing but when I look round the stands after we've scored the majority seem to be clapping and cheering in support of it... ;)

"Or maybe you're too intellectual for music and a Nietzschian diatribe questioning the reality of the goal is more your thing?"

Never heard of that breed, but I once had a Schauzer with a Kafkaesque appreciation and understanding of the offside rule. Didn't talk much though.

I used to like the goal music when we were in the 4th Division, and also coming out to 'Simply the Best', but I have to say, I was only 11 then and once you get past your mid teens it definately wears off... and now I find it plain irritating! So yes - another vote for NO TO GOAL MUSIC!

Only music I ever liked us playing was Van Halen's 'Jump' as the players came out. Think I was the only one though!

It's an embarrassment, might as well have clap sticks and big foam hands.

It's impossible to celebrate and applaud a goal without ending up in time with the bloody awful song. It doesn't create atmosphere, it just hinders the natural celebration a goal should bring. I've taken to cheering the goal and not applauding until they stop the music.

Please let's just have one season without it.

Same people calling for removal of goal music will be posting there is no atmosphere when we score next year. Is there no better tune?

can we not, a la pantomime, sing

"well, we'll have to do it again then, won't we? Whooooooh," in a very mincey voice

Definitely get rid, Tom Hark is soooo "League 1" I cringe when its played... if we need music then so be it, but FFS get rid of Tom Hark and choose something else.
