From his newspaper column
How many players in the Italy side would get into our England World Cup first team?

I wouldn’t take any of them

More to the point how many would get into the Republic of Ireland's first team

A few would get in, but I don't think Italy are quite as good these days.

A draw in that first game on Sat is like buying money, I'd say.

I look forward to everybody raving about Darmian after the Saturday game.

Lawrenson is a prick. I bet he's not watched a Serie A game in 15 years.

Certainly wouldn't want to see the likes of Pirlo in an England shirt.
Controlling the ball and picking passes, no chance.

Halfmist.

I'd take a good few of their players, actually.

Agree with Spunky about the game. It's got a draw written all over it. 1-1.

i'd award them the world cup just for looking ridiculously sharp.

Interesting that only 3 of their squad play outside Italy.

I wouldn't have Immobile in our team tbf.

I believe he lacks pace.

Italy's away kit is a thing of beauty.

Funnily enough Andy Townsend also said Italy were nothing special. Can't help but be reminded of the famous Jonathan Swift (mis)quote about dunces.

That doesn't sound like Townsend enola?

Or did he say Italy are in and around nothing special?

It's just his opinion for goodness sake.

Does an ex footballer who has won 5 first division winners medals, 1 European Cup winners medal, 1 FA Cup winners medal and 3 League Cup winners medals know more about it than you?

Not really, it's still just his opinion.
