I thought they said they weren't going to be done.

Cricket field certainly looks better on the pics.

Should look fantastic when done! Not sure when they are going to get it done though when we will be using the stand on Tuesday and the following Saturday for the home friendlies.

"The club has also stated its intention to attempt to paint the Bob Lord Stand seats before the start of the season"

attempt is the key word

Love this reply on Twitter...

@stewynne007: @BurnleyOfficial well that's a relief and there was I thinking we need new players

Maybe the BL will be closed for them friendlies?

I think this is great news, it's amazing how much better our ground looks with the improvements. Perhaps they are just cosmetic, but the difference is stunning. Money well spent in my opinion regardless of what some may say.

Can I suggest the seats should be all Claret to reflect its more demure clientele.

In the grand scheme of things it's not a lot of money they've spent on cosmetic changes but the improvement to the look of the cricket field stand is amazing.

Also like the touch of having the badge in the technical area.

I've always felt that in a macabre, but economically sound way, the Bob Lord should be sponsored by Alderson + Horan.

Personally I would quite like to see alternate claret and blue sections

I would of thought that it would be a good idea to have the cricket field stand open for the friendly game. They would be able to check out all the improvements and alow the other stand to be painted.

When asked about signing some new players a club spokesman decided to gloss over it and talked instead about repainting the seats.:D

They should have invested in knitted claret and blue removeable covers, like a tea cosy, with a matching claret and blue antimacasser.
or
The seats could have been painted to form a massive mosiac complete with homburg, of old grumpy himself, the legend that was Robert William Lord.
And then again...

I wonder what the age of the oldest and youngest person are in the BLS? Nothing at all to do with the thread, but hey-ho!

In block 3 there are any number of young lads hardly out of short pants, a few granddaughters and one guy who had his 90th birthday during last season.

Can't think of his, CT knows him well, but he played in goal for Burnley Reserves against a Bolton side with Nat Lofthouse at centre forward.

So there you go, a real range of ages just like other stands.

I'm sure Bob Lord will look down with real pride if it resembles a purple sausage on Match of the Day.

Dexters want 20 for a 2.5 litres tin. Hoos as offered them 1.50 a tin. Could be a while before this happens.

I think we should get school kids in all doing their own designs in claret and blue. Might look a mess but maybe not .

That's Richard (or Dick) I can't recall his surname, but as you say Tony knows him well. Sits a few seats away from me, but hasn't been as regular over the last season or so, I'm hoping he will be there for he first game. Lovely bloke, with plenty of great stories (such as the Lofthouse one you mention) and a great sense of humour too. I believe he used to umpire in the Burnley league for many a year.

I've been in the Bob Lord since I was a nipper, wouldn't swap for any other stand. A real mix of age and characters and from my experience a little less 'kappa tracksuit', although of course that wouldn't suit many pensioners. :-D

Pieandapint...Think it might be Richard Wells?...anyway, as you say, a fantastic storyteller relating to the great days of the 50's and 60's and even earlier.

Which row are you on?...I'm at the back with my grandaughter. There are a few CM'ers in Block 3, northeastclaret is nearby with his three young lads.

I do hope they use a good paint that will dry in time for useage.

You can just imagine some "chav" from Chelski suing the club cos their 3,000 anorak is covered in Claret and Blue paint ;D

Great news.

We might actually start to look like we have left the mid 20th Century behind us now at last.
