View Full Version : A simple yes or no

With all the arguing about our summers transfers on here I thought I would ask are you happy with our dealings so far this summer.

I know this will be hard for some to do but could you please answer with Yes or No so we can judge how the majority are feeling utc

Anybody who thinks we should be paying extortionate amounts for players who are simply not worth it need to be sent to the asylum. I never wear those claret and blue tinted glasses and therefore even if we made a couple of ten million quid signings it is likely a club like ours will always struggle in the riches of the PL. Enjoy the fact we've got a new tunnel and subs bench!

I think we should blow nearly all the dosh on players and their wages, put the last 1m on a tip from Happy Claret to cover next season and do it all over again.

We can become as famous as Leeds or Portsmouth.

Back to the question - Yes!

16-08-2014, 06:28 AM
I'd have to say YES - the board appear to be spending sensible amounts on players and wages on resources who are the type of person who will fit into Sean's style.

There is also still potential for further strengthening with one, possibly two signings before the window shuts.

At the start of the window, it was all about strengthening, improving and building on what we had last season, which we certainly have done.

Yes, this coming season will be tough, it was always going to be, but these players all have attributes in their closet that has made Sean believe that they can fight and do a job for them, so if that's good enough for Sean, it's good enough for me!

[no body]

16-08-2014, 06:49 AM

Nothing at all wrong with the players we have brought in but we need more quality and we need a centre half and good central midfielder desperately. We have all summer.

George go and strum your guitar

16-08-2014, 07:12 AM
Oh Yes

16-08-2014, 07:15 AM
Pretty much yes.

16-08-2014, 07:19 AM
Today - Yes, very much so.

Ask the question again at 11pm on 1st September though.

16-08-2014, 07:29 AM
A simple yes. I would hope that by close of trading the quality CH and central MF have been bought.

I also hope the board have signed all these guys with massive relegation reductions in salary. Although we do take one game at a time.

16-08-2014, 07:29 AM
What Goody said

If we add a CH and a CM, then we've a chance. Otherwise we are relying on no injuries and only a couple of suspensions, which is chancy at best.

16-08-2014, 07:29 AM
Yes!,, and more to come me thinks

16-08-2014, 07:35 AM

in Dyche and the board I trust

16-08-2014, 07:36 AM
We have failed to address the two critical areas so its a no for me.

The Bedlington Terrier
16-08-2014, 08:26 AM
Absolutely "Yes!"

16-08-2014, 08:29 AM
No. We are way short in two, arguably three, areas. Sept 2nd is really the time for this thread though.

16-08-2014, 08:32 AM

16-08-2014, 08:37 AM
yes :D

16-08-2014, 08:46 AM
Taylor - good signing, improves the team
Jutkiewicz - good signing for the price but not as good as Vokes
Sordell - sensible gamble, don't expect a thing from him
Gilks - makes sense
Kightly - big money for a 28 year old sub
Reid - crap signing
Ward - crap signing

Not satisfied at all, tbh

16-08-2014, 08:50 AM
Yes,, yes, YES :D

16-08-2014, 08:58 AM
No, bargain basemant gambles and short on numbers

16-08-2014, 09:05 AM
Yes. Sensible signings.

But I am sure we are not finished yet and I would be suprised if there is not a signing amongst them that is a bit more exciting.

16-08-2014, 09:06 AM
No, not really but get a centre back, centre mid, exciting winger and striker in and I will be, particularly the former two.

16-08-2014, 09:25 AM

16-08-2014, 09:26 AM
Juke - yes
Kightly - no never rated him
Reid - Dyche must have still been on holiday when this were done.
Ward - depends what we paid anything under 750k yes above no
Sordell - yes for price paid
Gilks - Yes
Taylor - yes

I hope non of them are on more than 6k a week

16-08-2014, 09:32 AM
Yes to date. And I'm happy to wait for Dyche in his attempts to sign players in the two positions we need to cover most.

16-08-2014, 09:38 AM

But if you had this question a year ago I believe you you have got lots of resounding NO, NO, NO answers - and look where we ended up!

16-08-2014, 09:44 AM
Yes-spent enough, put the rest in the bank.

16-08-2014, 09:50 AM
No not really. Most of them are decent cover but nothing more. But then I do quite like that last year's lot are going to get their chance. It just seems odd we've not taken this chance to invest in young talent with serious resale value.

16-08-2014, 10:01 AM

How anyone can be happy when we'll be fielding a weaker team against Chelsea than we could put out last year is beyond me.

16-08-2014, 10:03 AM
A 'no' from me.

16-08-2014, 10:15 AM

16-08-2014, 10:18 AM

Almost impossible to answer one way or another without some explanation. I still feel we desperately need a fast winger, a central midfielder and a central defender.

The players we've signed are fine with me but until we sign at least 2/3 above then no I'm not quite happy...yet :p

16-08-2014, 10:34 AM
Yes, overall.

But I would have liked at least one exciting signing. In the CM/CB or on the wings.

16-08-2014, 10:44 AM
Simple yes

(So far - at least two more midfielders required)

16-08-2014, 11:06 AM

16-08-2014, 11:50 AM
As already said it's impossible to answer without explanation.

If you are talking about the actual individual signings that we've made then yes (just).

At the end of May I thought at the very very least we needed a forward, centre half and a central midfielder (I don't mean someone who can fill in there) and I would have liked them in before the end of pre season. We've only got one of them in, so my answer would be no to the overall dealings so far.

However like someone mentioned further up the thread, I'll judge it properly on the 1st of September. In the mean time I'm not going to go on nearly every thread spouting doom, depression and negativity without foundation or fact. That's become very boring.

16-08-2014, 11:59 AM
no, we have strengthened the bench, that it.

16-08-2014, 12:03 PM

Two of the priorities at the beginning of this summer haven't been addressed at all, whilst the third (centre forward) has been addressed unconvincingly, however good his pre-season performances may have been.

We've brought some good squad players, and Taylor who is a little more than that, but in terms of genuine creativity from the bench we're clearly weaker than last season because we've not replaced Treacy or Stanislas.

16-08-2014, 12:23 PM

I'm not disappointed with any of the signings that we have made, I think they will all do a good job. I do think though that we have to increase the quality of the starting 11.

We need at least one centre half, at least one but ideally two central midfielders, a winger and a bit more quality up front.

Get some of these in and my answer could change. I still feel we should have got some of the above in sooner to give the benefit of a pre season and more chance in the games up to the end of the window.

16-08-2014, 01:29 PM
Yes ... I'm sure SD is moving heaven and earth to get the players in that he thinks will add strength to the group...that's the reality ... it is what it is, people need to accept that

16-08-2014, 02:50 PM

Mainly for same reasons Clatetspice has posted. I am expecting incomings before the end of the window though.

17-08-2014, 12:04 AM
Yes, so far. Like pretty much everyone else, I can't imagine we'll get to the end of the window without a centre-half and a centre-back coming in to finish things.

He don't play for yo
17-08-2014, 06:39 AM

Like most other posters on here I would like to see a new CB and CM brought in before 1 Sep but even if they aren't I am pretty content.

I think all of the signings will be able to cope with the Premier League. I also think they have been signed with one eye on having a very strong Championship side. Whilst some may condemn this as being negative I see it as being pragmatic. We're all praying and hoping for a miracle to happen and that we stay up, but virtually everyone who isn't a Burnley fan has us as favourites to go down. Whilst I accept predictions don't mean a thing (look at last year) I am glad the club is putting us in a position where if the most likely outcome occurs there will not be a mass exodus of players (look at Cardiff).

I would rather we reinforce the squad and become a yo-yo club, getting stronger each year, than feel obliged to spend extravagantly just because we are Premier League. Much better to take a 3-4 season view.

17-08-2014, 02:03 PM
If you mean up to this point then yes but if no more signings especially centre midfield and centre back between now and end of August ie end of transfer window then no

17-08-2014, 03:59 PM

In SD I trust

17-08-2014, 04:45 PM

In Dyche we trust

17-08-2014, 04:54 PM
"in dyche we trust" the most annoying phrase since OC is god.

17-08-2014, 05:10 PM

As has been said repeatedly, so far we've improved the overall squad but not the first 11. Bring in the three players we've been most consistently linked with (Dawson, Lansbury and Chalobah) and I think that would represent a good transfer window. I'm sure Dyche and the board are going about their business in a prudent manner, but it is disheartening to see so many bids rejected.
