With little home tickets left, coupled with an away end sell out the Turf will be packed out.

Potentially highest gate in decade's ?

Any clarets on here know the highest gate from the previous Premier League campaign.

So looking forward to Monday night

Let's have it !

How many were on for the Wrexham game in 92? I could hardly move!

Simple answer

No

Biggest crowd since the early 80's was 22,300 vs PNE in 2000 and the ground doesn't hold that many now.

What were the gates v Sheff Wed and Liverpool in 82/83?

Without digging the books out it was 23,100 ish vs Sheffield Wednesday and 22,500 ish vs Liverpool.

Edit:

23,134 vs Sheffield Wednesday
22,228 vs Liverpool

37,000 + against Leeds and Wrexham in 73/74 and the Bob Lord Stand was only rubble.

I can see where the confusion has occurred because of the title of the thread, but the OP means In "The Premiership".

To answer that it is 21,761 vs Bolton Wanderers but the OP was asking if this could be the biggest gate for decades and we are pointing out that it is impossible for that to be the case.

No he doesn't!

The word decades confirms that!

It is a worthwhile post though because the numbers are forthcoming.

We have to remember that the home support has actually lost loads of seats this season, so those that go must make extra noise, so the away team and fans don't notice!

Obviously some come on here for an argument as one of their prime reasons, so be it.

But most mature people reading this understand what the OP's question is, also assuming that they have thought things through of course.

i'm (sometimes) mature and nowhere in the op does it say premiership (or indeed premier league).

it does say decade's (sic) though.

Can't be the biggest crowd due to:

A. The Bolton crowd in 2009/10 of 21,700

B. The official capacity of Turf Moor is now 21,401

The club tweeted the current official capacity yesterday afternoon. Seems a big drop from 22,546, but that's what they're saying.

I fully expect there to be a crowd this season listed in excess of the 21,401 that has been tweeted.

I don't know what the official gate was when we got beat 2-3 against the Wovers but I've never seen it so packed , went to loo and couldn't get back in LS ...

Yeah, probably Goody. 22,401 yet we know that the are over 22,000 seats in the stadium. Could be legislation preventing it being more perhaps? Maybe not selling block 1 of JHL due to new TV studio directly above it?
