Score in the game in march 1961 when we were fined 1000 for fielding a weakened team ! I think we only played one of our first team as we were playing in the European cup 3 days later can anybody remember our starting 11 ?

I was there with my dad. 4-2 up with just a few minutes left and absolutely gutted when it ended in a draw. Used to watch the reserves a lot then and it was a pleasure to see them in action.

And Andy Lochhead.

Also think Jim Scott played in that game and not John Talbut.

Because of our antics in the league cup that season playing our reserves down at Brentford, when we were drawn against Bournemouth in the FA Cup 3rd round there was a cartoon in one of the newspapers showing the draw which read Burnley Reserves will play Bournemouth. We dipped put of the league cup for a few seasons after that first season of the cup.

The observations of the dailies were as under as Burnley were simultaneously engaged in European Cup ,Championship ,FA Cup and League Cup : Too many irons in the fire .

Does Bobby Tambling still hold the Chelsea goalscoring record?

Here are some Chelski stats. Take a gander at the goals per game for Tambling, Greaves and Lampost. - view external link (www.bounder.friardale.co.uk/Scorers.htm)

Incredible figures for all those players but for me Jimmy Greaves was the ultimate 'goal machine'. His goal-scoring record at youth and reserve level reads like something from a boys comic. After Jimmy Mc my favourite ever player despite the fact that he frightened me to death when he played against us.

Jimmy Greaves was a very special player

"Jimmy Greaves was a very special player"

Indeed he was and it's interesting to note that from that Chelsea list of ratio of goals to games only Greaves has a record which betters that of Willie Irvine.
