can anyone advise of a good company to use for canal boat hire and roughly how much for a 3 night spell.
also looking for local attractions...museum..historical..art...etc etc...thinking Towneley hall but stumped after that..cheers...utc.

You cannot barge onto here asking about canal boats.
Burnley is one massive tourist destination, Townley Gawthorpe, weavers triangle and the shopping outlets. walks around here are amazing, check out the singing ringing tree etc etc. - view external link (http://canal-cruises.co.uk/#)

Happy your posts are a breath of fresh air compared with the usual dross on here of I'm not content with PL football.

Yesterday we hired a day boat from Bridge House Marina near Garstang on the Lancaster Canal. I noticed a couple who might do holidays - Water babies and Crabtree. The Lancaster has no locks apart from the Glasson Branch so relatively easy to navigate.

There are a couple of firms over in Skipton who do canal boat hire - if you Google them there'll be information on availability, contacts and prices.

In terms of activities and attractions, it's all about what you want to do and where you want to travel to, but locally, there is loads of stuff to do, but it depends on budgets and interests.

just a heads up for next weekend...there is the canal festival with those puppets and stalls etc...held in Burnley.
also I think its the blues festival in Colne...utc.
