Thought he had a near perfect game, the booking for Costa while dividing opinion I thought was both brave and brilliant. The kind of incident that makes us detest the Premier League because the pundits / media back it up all the time by saying freeze frame Sky+ and if there is contact it is a pen. Oliver knows different, those are not the rules of the game. The young lad did well.

Best ref in the league now and had an almost faultless game.

Will probably get stick from the mainstream media for not giving the big boys a penalty, but I thought it was a superb decision. Best referee in the league.

No-one's perfect, but this guy was close.

there's no doubt whatsoever that this guy was promoted to the higher levels of refereeing far to early, he made far too many big calls that were just plain wrong (and we were one of many teams who were on the receiving end) mainly because, like many younger refs, he knew the laws but not the game.

fair paly to him though, he's come on a hell of a lot though and last night's was as good a performance as you'll see. the booking for costa was entirely correct, it was rank bad cheating.

top stuff.

Brilliant performance and he was not overawed by the Chelsea "Big Guns!" I have never been anywhere near a perfect score before but he deserves it!

My only complaint was that he didn't spray over the Chelsea players' boots at one of the free kicks !

He had an excellent game and if we get this standard all season we'll have very few complaints.

My one quibble was that Sordell was booked for a late follow-through challenge yet he ignored a very similar (though less bad) challenge on Dean Marney earlier on.

A mere quibble considering the vast majority of decisions were spot on but hey, I'm a Burnley fan OK.

Good ref. He was mostly anonymous which is how it should be. Loses some points for not booking Apzildingbat when he tried the most blatant dive early on. It might have persuaded Costa Plenty not to try it on later.

agree with what has been said but it wasn't a hard game to referee. He missed a few arms up in the face of Juko by Mr Terry.

Very encouraging to see that referees as well as players can improve their performance with practice, dedication, experience, etc. Michael Oliver as well as Hazard, Fabregas, Schuerrle, Ivanovic, Arfield, was one of the men of the match.

I agree entirely with Rowls, hence my maximum marks. Costa kicked Heaton and could have been booked twice, once for kicking Heaton, once for diving !! Is that allowed ?!
