The fourth week of games has just been completed but how many penalties do you think have been scored so far this season in the Premier League?

You're spot on todclaret - I was amazed how few there were.

Saido Berahino for West Brom v Sunderland and Steven Gerrard for Liverpool v Spurs.

Maybe it'll make Scotty feel a bit better but I wonder how many penalties were missed or saved so far. Surprised at so few scored though CT.

No idea on pens not scored but 2 in 40 games scored I would think is low. 72 scored last season which is almost 2 per game week.

Good question , think it would be a good topic to discuss on Talksport or Football Focus on Saturday.
They might even be able to find out how many have been missed this season.
Has there been a concerted effort from refs to reduce the number of penalties? Are defenders getting wiser ? I don't know but interesting
Going to try and email them unless you want to CT

I think one factor may be that refs are just booking players for simulation more now, either founded or unfounded as we saw on Saturday, although looking on the tv replay that night, I think it was outside the box.

At this rate there will be a uefa/fifa rule change to allow a penalty if it was 'on target' under the 'keep the game exciting' rule.
