If the 28th November hadn't been a kind day to Burnley FC over the years then today, the 29th, certainly has. In 1975, on a day when both Willie Morgan and Doug Collins were stretchered off, we were beaten 2-1 by Spurs at White Hart Lane, our only league defeat.

There have been some good wins and some big wins. In 1924 we beat Bury 4-0 with Tom Roberts bagging a hat trick and we repeated that scoreline last time out against Ipswich in 2011. Having just escaped the bottom three with three late goals at Hull the response was to record our biggest win in some time.

Sam Vokes opened the scoring with his first ever Burnley goal. Chris McCann then scored twice with Jay Rodriguez completing the scoring. Incredibly, for a team just minutes from a relegation position three days earlier we had now moved up to 14th in the table.

In 2008 we faced Derby at home as we looked to get back on track after picking up just one point from the previous two games. This was a Derby side just down from the

I was edging my bets Quicknick because I'm never sure which way round it was. In that League Cup tie they'd changed their shirts at half time and both Arsenal full backs came out wearing either number 2 or 3 (3 I think) which always adds to the confusion.

That 3-3 draw with Arsenal was the day I was born. Good to see we've only lost once on my birthday in the 47 years since!
