View Full Version : Is it time for Jones to be rested

Thought he looked a bit lost for most of the game today
His lack of speed and general fitness for this level left us exposed in midfield (but Marney coped admirably well given their strength over us in this area)
Plus his obvious reliance on the left foot with most of his passing being either sideways or backwards does not give us much penetration into the oppositions half
It would appear Chalobah is not convincing SD about starting a game so I would like to see Arfield given a start in central midfield on Tuesday

Not at his best today but I'd still say he's having a decent season for us so no.

No is my answer to the question posed in the thread title

Before Caernarfon gets there - is post 3 a Kate Bush reference...?

I thought it was KLF.

'would like to see Arfield given a start in central midfield on Tuesday'

You have been watching this season, haven't you?

Given our best performances and results have come when Marney and Jones play together in the middle, no he shouldn't be rested.

We're unbeaten in 3 and have 7 points from the last 9, we're showing real signs of improvement and it would be very silly to start messing around with things.

Can't believe I didn't see that one.

It's unbelievable.

I hope he gets a couple of early nights in, rests well and as a consequence is fully ready to "go again" against the Toon on Tuesday.

Looked off the pace today, but no way I'd even consider dropping him

Off the pace today but Jones along with Marney are the first twos on the team sheet for me.

No it isn't, there's no alternative at present. Certainly wasn't at his best yesterday though, and I don't think he was stellar against Hull either.

If Matt Taylor was fit, then certainly given the intensity of 2 big games in 4 days I'd be looking for him to slot in alongside Marney on Tuesday night. I think that's one of the options Taylor was signed to give us, and it may well be that as the season wears on and Taylor comes back to fitness, its an option we use a little more.

Jones has struggled just a touch against teams playing with 3 playing behind the striker, he's not a natural holding player and with Marney pressing forwards he gets caught just a little betwixt and between.

The only Jones to be rested is Referee Mike who booked Ageuro for diving in what was ,perhaps, this season'most blatant penalty so far.
