People haven't voted yet because like me, they can't work out why we didn't win that game?

Heaton - 8 couple of good saves and some great kicking and decision making today.
Trippier - 8 Back to his industrial self, we play so much better when he can get forward.
Keane - 7 Seems to look good, a bit naive and frail on the ball.
Shackell - 8 One fault was trying to take on a player on the byline rather than passing it back to ward. Otherwise good.
Ward - 6 Didn't think he had a good game today, crossing was off and looked bad defensively in the first half.
Boyd - 7 Tried his best, but a bad cross at the end where we could have scored. Credit for him winning the ball though.
Marney - 9 Cultured, Fiesty..what a player. He was playing almost like Xavi today. What a player.MoM.
Jones - 5 Didn't do much, wonderful assist for the cross of their first goal.
Kightly - 6 Not his day today.
Barnes - 7 Thought he was one of our better players when he was subbed. Caused trouble and we kept the ball

Heaton 7 - solid game
Trippier 7 - solid
Keane 6 - didn't play as well as his previous 2 cameos suggested, but still ok overall
Shackell 6 - ok
Ward 6 - struggled for long periods but came good towards the end
Kightly 4 - poor
Jones 5 - quiet game
Marney 5 - same as Jones
Boyd 4 - runner bean, nothing else. Poor.
Barnes 5 - meh
Ings 7 - the only positive in the final third. Sharp, should have scored two.

Arfield 5 - nothing offered
Juke 5 - won a pen from some shocking defending, nothing else

Heaton 8 (but I need to see their goal again)
Tripps 8
Shackell 7 (point off for woeful distribution)
Keane 8 (did very well after being caught out in the first couple of minutes)
Ward 7
Jones 7
Marney 7 (some poor aimless long balls which isn't the norm)
Kightly 6 (point off for not burying great chance to equalise)
Ings 8 (thought he might have been struggling after a tough challenge in first half, but he kept going. Point off for not getting the winner at the death!!)
Barnes 8 (Great first half and won lots of headers against much taller players, but less effective second)
Boyd 6 (Lots of very one paced running and seemed out of sorts. Had an excellent chance early second half and even that was half hearted)
Juke 6 (Earned the pen, but missed at least 2 guilt edged chances)
Arfield 6 (I like him, but made little difference today)
Wallace 8 (Did very well and put them on the back foot at last)

Villa did surprisingly well first half for a team I believed were lacking in confidence,

MDWat

I had Keane at fault for the goal. When Jones wins that header, I want our dominating, huge centre half shouting him out of the way and heading the danger away. Otherwise, I'd have had him at a 6 as I thought he was generally solid.

As for shooting me - if that's what makes you happy!

Wallace not on long enough but would have been high

Villa were better than us today (which is fine, they are better than us) and will feel they should have won, but we stuck to our game pretty well and can be pleased with how we played. We looked vulnerable when they came forward quickly, but in midfield we competed really well and created the chances to win the game in the end.

Enjoyed it again, things are going really well.

Heaton 7 - Looked comfortable enough throughout
Trippier 7 - Got forward well, always an outlet
Ward 7 - Surely the Ward / Mee debate has been put to bed now
Keane 6 - Thought he struggled in the first 20 but grew into it
Shackell 7 - Solid as ever
Jones 6 - Struggled as midfield was overrun
Marney 6 - Needless booking
Boyd 6 - Not his day
Kightly 6 - Worked hard, often involved but lacked quality
Barnes 6 - Won headers but lacked pace or quality to make a real impact
Ings 8 - Tireless worker, showing he belongs at this level

Arfield 5 - Struggled to make a real impact
Jutkiewicz 5 - Continues to find new ways of not scoring. Surely soon...

Wallace - not on long enough but well worthy of a mention. Added a bit of nous and invention to our attacking play.

Heaton 7 - wil be disappointed to have been beaten at his near post, but otherwise very solid
Trippier 7 - one great ball into the box near the end
Keane 5 - looks a bit casual at times ... probably needs a few games
Shackell 6 - defensively fine, wasted chance to play ball back to Ward for cross near end
Ward 6 - solid defensively and some decent crosses
Kightly 6 - generally average but probably had our two best chances to score before we equalised
Marney 7 - the better of the midfield two
Jones 5 - thought he was below par today
Boyd 6 - run Forrest, run...
Ings 8 - great penalty and a constant menace
Barnes 6 - not sure why he was booked

Arfield 6 - didn't get involved much
Jutkiewizc 6 - did well to win the penalty but too wasteful in front of goal
Wallace 9 - not on long, but was the architect of our two best chances from open play

Heaton 9 - MoM - Brilliant performance, kept us in the game with some good saves and his handling from crosses was equally as good.
Trips 6 - Quiet by his standard
Ward 6 - Worked hard but was left high a dry a few times by Boyd today
Keane 7 - Possibly at fault for the goal but I thought he was very very good for the most part
Shackell 7 - Standard Shackell
Jones 5 - Worst game he's had in a long time. Seemed off the pace from the 1st minute
Marney 7 - Tireless, would have been an 8 if not for the needless yellow card
Boyd 5 - Seemed to run away from the ball all the time today. Headless chicken performance
Kightly 5 - Missed a sitter and didn't put a decent cross in all day
Ings 8 - Constant threat, looked like the only person capable of stretching their back 4. Shame his last minute effort hit the post as that would have been a beauty
Barnes 6 - Huff and ****

Juke 5 - he gets a point for winning the penalty but he simply has no goal threat. How he hasn't scored at least 1 I don't

Heaton - 8* - back to his best and kept us in the game

Trippier - 7 - good performance
Keane - 7 - after a shaky start I thought he played pretty well
Shackell - 7 - standard good performance from the skipper
Ward - 6 - got the runaround first 25 minutes but stuck at it

Kightly - 5 - frustrating. He keeps the shape really well and puts a shift in, but powder**** at times. Should have scored
Marney - 7 - daft booking, battled hard
Jones - 5 - off the pace today
Boyd - 4 - I'm sorry guys, I just don't get it. Runs around a lot but viery, very little else. Too often today, when we had the ball, he was "in hiding". Should have done much better with the pull back early second half. Looking more like Ian Moore than a marque signing, but I'm hopeful there's better to come

Barnes - 6 - thought he did ok. Held ball up well
Ings - 8 - just pipped by Heaton for MOM. A constant thorn

Arfield - 5 - little impact

Last 10-15 mins were good as was the atmosphere. Prior to that the game and atmosphere was very flat. We made Villa look good, faster and slicker but they aren't that good.

Heaton - 8 couple of good reaction saves. Decent distribution. Still little confidence when he comes off his line.
Trippier - 8 took the opportunity to get forward and shows all others up with quality of crossing.
Keane - 6 sure he'd come on with a few games. Not a bad game but more comfortable with Duff
Shackell - 7 solid
Ward - 7 decent game. Gave options going forward.
Kightly - 7 effort goes some way for limited skill. Read the game well dropping back to cover Trips or Ward whichever side he was when they went forward.
Marney - 8 usual Marney.
Jones - 6 lacked vision insisting on lateral or backward passes.
Boyd - 8 okay, not the fastest off the mark but his constant chasing and closing down is a lesson to all. I cringe when midfield and defence stand off, others should take heed of his attitude.
Ings - 7 effort, holds ball and distributes generally brilliantly but today several passes went astray.Long ball game we revert to regularly doesn't suit his style without a strong cent

A very difficult game to rate. Thought we were not at the races in the first half and should have been 2 down, yet we could have been 1 up. Started the second half very well then fell away. Penalty came out of the blue and was awful defending rather good play on our part. After the equalizer we should have won easily. Here goes with my ratings

Really good, entertaining game, lit up by four or five top class performances from the Villa midfield and one Danny Ings.

Heaton - 8 - Thought it was one of his most commanding performances for us, a couple of excellent saves and equally took some of the pressure off the back four by coming for crosses on occasions.

Trippier - 7 - Steady defensively and a couple of really good balls in when he got forwards, but Villa managed him pretty well and he needs to start keeping the ball better in general play.

Ward - 7 - Steady and reliable, with a telescopic left leg which seems to extend to win challenges he's got no right to win. Think the debate about who plays left back has been dealt with for now.

Keane - 5 - Had a really difficult first half hour, culminating in a moment of real naivety for Villa's goal, but he was never the liability I feared he might be when Abonglahor caught him square twice in the opening 5 or 6 minutes. Obviously naive and raw, but equally obviously a powerful

Heaton - 8 good to see him come off his line to punch a cross.
Trippier - 7
Keane - 6
Shackell - 7

Boyd - 5 runs and tackles but did not create enough
Marney - 7 two goal line clearances but his range finder on long passes was off today.
Jones - 6 I wish he would occasionally take more time to pick a pass rather than the immediate one touch pass back to a defender. The midfielders should be making long passes not the centre backs.
Kightly 7 went close with two good efforts
Barnes 6 hit post with the one he punched, which saw him rightly booked.
Ings 8 Our main threat, drilled the pen, hit the post but bad miss with header.

Jutkiewicz 6 won pen, unsettled their defence, unlucky with header just past the post. Just needs composure and confidence. Oh and that little bit of good fortune we all need at times.
Arfield 5 Didn't make an impact on the game yesterday, not to his usual standard.

Wallace worth an 8 today, excellent impact sub performance as at Leicester.

heaton - 8 handled well and commanded his area better

trippier - 7

keane - 7 first start at premier league level, showed a few nerves at first but settled well enough and had a decent game. their goal is such a tight call he can be forgiven for that. far more at fault was our left winger at the time (boyd or kightly, can't remember which) who hadn't tracked their man to cut out the cross.

shackell - 8 excellent

ward - 7 has made the left back slot his own for now

jones - 6

marney - 6 a tough day for these two against a buzzy, industrious villa midfield three

kightly - 6

boyd - 6 poor final ball from these two and boyds powder**** shot, when he should have burst the net, summed up his afternoon

Two things about their goal.
Firstly Jones should have been wiped out by Keane or Shackell instead of flicking it on.
Secondly, with Keane's first start he is getting used to the system in a live situation. He may have only just played him on but was a yard adrift of the other defenders in a line.
