Easy mistake to make, he knew they were playing a team in claret and blue and knew it was somewhere south of the Tyne.
Obviously because two of the teams were playing at Turf Moor he edged his bets and forgot the one darf Sarf.

Surely someone he knew could have, and presumably chose to not, tell him?

No doubt, he thought he had arrived at West Ham with plenty of time to spare..!

An almost equally bad mistake as a journalist "Nothing unusual in that. Expect Burnley were playing Aston Villa." Should that not have been EXCEPT? And whilst we are correcting grammar it's whoops.

That's not a correction to grammar. It's a correction to spelling.

It's probably a good job that Newcastle weren't playing at the Turf yesterday with the extra traffic that would have been travelling from the north east.

The A1 was closed near Catterick all day, there were accidents on some of the minor roads which were diversion routes and the normal 2hrs 40 minute trip took nearly 4 hours.
Decided to avoid it all on the way home and went up M6 to go across A69 -- there had been an accident on the A69 and it was closed.

Never mind, at least we got a point.
