Must be getting close now, place on the bench for the spurs game?

Bearing in mind the Jutkiewicz goal dearth if Gilchrist isn't on the bench at QPR, just what has he got to do to make it ?...beat a team single-handedly ?

Excellent to hear that he's getting some football and getting ever closer to coming back.

It's not because he's scored 3 in two development games that he's going to be our saviour.

As we've seen with others scoring goals in the Premier League is harder because the defenders and the goalkeepers are better for starters.

We need to give the lad time. All that aside I'm really glad to hear he's back and banging the goals in.

I am only asking because I have only seen him play once but is Gilchrist worth a punt? I would pitch Vokes straight back in at Loftus Road if I had my way. Give him 45 minutes and see how he goes?

I hope you don't get your way then as IMO Sam Vokes needs a couple of 90 mins games for the Development team before taking a place on our first team bench

Great to hear Sam's rehabilitation seems to be going so swimmingly.

Also good to know Gilchrist's still improving.

I think SD has decided to be careful with him. That's what he said anyway.

I wonder if that means him getting a 'pre-season' of 3 lots of 90 minutes like everyone else did. If it's a game a week that'd mean he could be back on Boxing day. That wouldn't be so bad would it?

On the bench for the Boxing Day game against Liverpool is also what I think and as I said above after a couple or so 90 mins games for our Development team.

That Gilchrist does seem to knock some goals in.

Is there anyone in the know here whos seen him or knows about him a but more? If so, is he something of a prospect for us?

Not saying Gilchrist won't make a decent player but didn't Wes Fletcher also knock in a load of goals and never made it at Burnley?

Seen Gilchrist in youth and dev squad teams over the years, and he is coming on nicely if he continues his progress he will get his chance when SD thinks it's the right time I expect.

Get big Sam starting on saturday, after all it's only Dunne and Caulker. :)

Wes Fletcher also banged them in for us in the under 21s league last time we were in the Premier League. He's scored 4 in 16 so far this season for York including a cracker against Wimbledon in the FA Cup.

Wasn't Gilchrist's only loan experience at Droyslden?

Might be good to get him out at a team a bit higher up the pyramid like we have with Tom Anderson.

It's tough though as we'd need him to play games and there probably isn't a huge queue of league clubs with a history of developing youngsters that are willing to take a kid who has hardly any experience. Gilchrist seems to have potential but there are plenty of similar lads out there who need loan moves.

Did Vokes wear the sombrero while he was playing? That must make heading difficult...
