View Full Version : ASnyone any idea on how the promotion bonus was arrived at.

Notice that we shelled out 7.9m in promotion bonuses.
Does sound like a significant amount to me but presume it was written into most, if not all first team players contracts.

Would be interesting to know whether it was just the playing staff and manager and his team or whether others such as Chief Executive were also given a bonus.
And/or whether it was based on a percentage of the players wages?

Given that we had quite a small squad some players must have received a fairly tidy sum one would think.

Anyone any idea how it was divided up?

RoyBoyClaret would be able to explain better, but I think JohnB covered a lot of it in July at the London Clarets meeting. He said that the reason we were able to keep our wage bill lower than most other Championship clubs was that we offered substantial bonuses for promotion, plus big pay increases if promotion was achieved as part of the players' contracts.

Did that include paying back 4m ish in maternal loans?

There were kick backs on transfer fees as well - presumably Barnes, perhaps Ings, Tripps and Mee? Suspect we're probably clear on Duff though.
