I am never rampantly for or against Fred Story, taking each piece of news on its merit, but clearly the complete writing off of this loan is an incredibly generous gesture.

I can't help thinking this is the silver lining of a very dark cloud.

It might put some of the tiresome conspiracy theories to bed. If certainly shows Fred as the club's best supporter.

I have never been able to understand than people could be upset with Story.

He stepped forward when he was needed

I respect the current owners for the same reasons

We just need new ones is all

A great gesture by Fred but "the clubs best supporter" i don't think so.

Let's put the record straight.. It is not Fred Story who has removed the charge on the ground, it happens to be Story Construction ltd of which Big Fred and others are the current Custodians, Ok they the directors have had to approve removing the charge but Story Construction will be able to write off 90% against tax liabilities. So in effect it is us the taxpayer who has given it as Storey Construction will be paying Approx 1million less corporation tax. FUNNY OLD MERRY GO ROUND

90% Jay? What's your source for that? Any chance of a link?

Fred's writing off of the loan has made Jenkins / Nixon / Pattison a lot of money because now they really do own 67% of the club with complete rights of ownership, not weighed down by the obligation to pay the loan off.

Since they have performed poorly they should sell their shares at a discount to the price that they bought them at.

Aye, and the trust should reduce their holding to 10%. Who in their right mind is going to invest heavily in a club when a third party will own around a third of what they build? The Trust are now IN THE WAY.

Analogue Three 67%

Trust 25.4%

Several Hundred Small Shareholders 7.6% (Knighton Share Issue)

Aye, I forgot the small shareholders. A quarter then. Same principle. Fred's showed some largesse; so should they.

Gradually some very wealthy and influential people are getting well pissed off.

Expect some ****er to wake up to a horse's head on his pillow.
