Last time I looked we were top of the English Fair Play League.

I believe that three places are up for grabs to qualify for the Europa League...but I can't find any data of fair play from other countries.

Are we in danger of qualifying for the Europa League and would you welcome this given our resources and the fact that our matches would tend to be Thursday/Sunday?

Is it possible to decline entering this competition which I believe would not be good for us at this time in our development. If not, then once we are safe from relegation, perhaps we should start removing our shirts after scoring a goal etc.

I'm just hoping we don't get into Europe by any means. IMO, we haven't the resources to do a European campaign and a domestic campaign, especially if we are still in the Premier. However, I've no doubt SD would disagree!

With safety assured, why would anyone not want us to qualify for Europe next season?

First and foremost we need to concentrate on PL safety. If we achieve that then take whatever comes our way.

I personally don't think we'd be ready for an assault on Europe to be honest. Look at Rovers; they finished top of the Premier League when they bought the thing, but only ever embarrassed themselves in Europe. We wouldn't want anything distracting us from a second season attack on the title! B)

Agreed. Maybe in a couple of seasons we could handle it, but not next season.

I can't find any info on the rest of Europe though. I believe there are three slots via the fair play thing which are allocated across Europe.

Does anyone know if we are a contender for one of these three places?

I can just see Real Madrid at Turf Moor :D

Play them in February and they would all freeze to death.

I am sure Burnley must be inside the Arctic Circle.

The three fairest FA's get one slot each to their fairest team that hasn't already qualified for Europe.

We currently top the Fair Play league I think

However over the last 6 years The FA has gained only one slot out of the 18 available which was Fulham in 2011

England came fifth last year, top three where Norway, Finland and Sweden. The top three are allowed an extra entrant into Europe. So should England make it into the top three then we would have to come top of the fair play league in England to get into Europe. Oh yeah, OTR. Madrid warm in February? As a point of interest, I've just been to Lisbon for two nights. Temperatures down to 3 degrees.

Average of the league has to be at or above 8 though. Haven't done the math, but currently the PL might just scrape that, with the current mean being above eight

Yes, we could qualify. By winning the FA Cup. Come on you Clarets!

Hope not - it's just not what we want right now.

I'd love to see Burnley play in Europe. Survival in the Premier League is obviously the primary goal but I'd rather we didn't become a plodding club like Newcastle that never has any glory.

Seriously don't think we need this right now.
