View Full Version : 1982 unbeaten run ends

Today is another date in the calendar when results haven't gone too well for Burnley. We've played 17 league games on 6th March with only three of them won, six drawn and eight lost.

Last time out was a defeat; that one came at the Emirates in the Premier League where we lost 3-1 but with Arsenal's third goal only going in during stoppage time. Fabregas, Walcott and Arshavin scored their goals with ours coming from David Nugent, an equaliser five minutes into the second half.

The first of the wins came in 1915 when goals from Levy Thorpe and Teddy Hodgson gave us a 2-0 win, and it was 2-1 in 1954 when we beat Arsenal, again at home. This time the goalscorers were Bill Holden and Les Shannon.

In the only other win, Andy Farrell scored in a 1-0 home win against Torquay in 1990. It ended a poor run that had seen us win just one point from six games and a move up the table to 15th.

That game at Stockport! Rarely leave a game before the end but said to our kid with about 10 mins to go should we make our way home. He asked why? I replied why do you thinK and we left. We didn't miss anything!
