Rest in Peace Ben. A terrible accident that shows how fragile life is.

Am I right in thinking that the accident led to the postponement of the York match, that then became the promotion clincher?

Memory might be playing tricks on me, I'm sure CT will know.

John Deary has posted a nice message on Twitter dedicating winning the championship for him.

It did. I think it happened the day before the York game but the news of the postponement came out on the day. We then played it at the end of the season and clinched the title there.

The other lad up on the roof with him as Jamalah Rahman who I believe was very badly affected by it.

A very sad day.

At the time we met Ben's parents at the Turf who were unbelievably stoic. Frank Teasdale was magnanimous in his support for the family and could not have done more for them.
It was a horrible, freak accident and I cannot believe that 23 years have passed so quickly. R.I.P. Ben.

Yes that was a sad day.

And he was not the first. A friend of mine Pete Turner, fell thru the same roof in the seventies when painting it

Remember being at St Teds when he passed away can't believe it was 23 years ago.

There is a sports hall dedicated to him at the Childrens Adventure Farm Trust in Altrincham where his Burnley shirt is displayed alongside a memorial plaque.
