In 1913, Burnley reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time, losing out to Sunderland and missing out on a first ever final.

And 12 months later we were in the semi-finals again and this time we'd beaten Sunderland to get there. After a 0-0 draw at Roker Park, Sunderland made the trip to Turf Moor on 12th March 1914 and the Clarets went through 2-1 with goals from Teddy Hodgson and Richard Lindley. Sheffield United awaited in the semi-finals to be played at the end of the month at Old Trafford.

Last time out in the league on this date was not quite so long ago; we have to go back just a year. We were still celebrating our Ewood triumph and the away game at Birmingham should really have been our fourth consecutive win.

It wasn't because Birmingham came back three times to equalise in a 3-3 draw. It was just the second time we'd conceded three goals in a league game all season, the other was the 3-3 draw at QPR, and it was also the last occasion we conceded three during
