Personally, I think the board of the BBC have been looking to sack Clarkson for some time. The handbags at dawn was just an excuse. Anyway, this thread is simply asking WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE REPLACE CLARKSON?

My choice would be Damon Hill. Yours?

I don't care. If either of the three leave the show it would no longer hold my interest.

Oh, wait. Tina Fey!

To make it somewhere near interesting i think the only presenter should be Roy Cropper.

No need to sack him, his contract expires next month.

The thing with Top Gear Clarkson owns 30% of the company the BBC own 50% and not sure on the other 20%
Without Clarkson at the hem who was the one to bring it back from the ashes I'm not sure it would have anywhere near the appeal it currently has.
6m viewers for BBC is massive.

I'm not altogether sure though if this "suspension" is a publicity stunt.

If Clarkson left he would still be in for a big pay out for his shares and I dare say there would be plenty of other organisations such as Sky who would pay him handsomely to create another "top gear"

BBC are in a sticky place over this,

But if hypothetically there was a new presenter
Ex Claret Ian Wright!

Clarkson doesn't own the rights. He did, he doesn't anymore.

I think Harriet Harman would be good

I'll throw Jeff Brown's in the ring.

I take it he's got his license back now?

The best person for the job would be an amoral, violent psychopath with a pathological hatred of Richard Hammond and unlimited access to a well-stocked weapon cabinet.

I may even be tempted to watch Top Gear.

They'll defo appoint a misandrist. Maybe one of them off Loose Women; they're well bitter.

Only if yr the BBC and you want to create your own news,otherwise... Actually to have the story as headline news is quite endearing, a bit like Saddam Hussain being crazy about the Iraqi football team.

Chris Evans would be able to hold it together. Maybe Rowan Atkinson. Is Tony Mason still around?

Gutted if Clarkson left. He's a pillock, but we know it and he knows it.
New presenter, why why not Brian Johnson, singer with AC/DC. Funny guy, loves his motors.

The Ginger Miraculous One would take Top Gear to Premier Gear in his first season.

i reckon they should replace richard hammond with gok wan.

it would be interesting to see if he could make you want to punch the television any harder.

How about DES LYNHAM doing it (and maybe bring Jimmy Hill back as well for another appalling partnership between the two of them)!!

But seriosuly, lets have the best presenter on telly for this sort of live-to the audience type show... JEFF STELLO the monkey hanger. He did well on Countdown I thought ;D

Honestly, seriously? Only two people good enough. Johnny Vaughan and Chris Evans. Short list of two in my opinion. Clarkson is good but he is not bigger than the BBC, and Hammond is just a watered down Clarkson clone. Keep May though for his intellectual input.Discuss.;D

The BBC know they'll lose a lot of future income if they sacked Clarkson. It's either a publicity stunt, or they've done it so they look like they're making a point and not just letting him say whatever he wants. They want to be seen as giving him a *******ing.

As for the original question, I don't think there is a good enough direct replacement.

top gear is puerile crud and clarkson is the most overrated man since michael portillo.
