Burnley have played a total of 21 league games on 13th March. Only six of them have been won with two drawn and 13 lost.

The first eight of them, from 1897 to 1954, all ended in defeat and there were a couple of 'Throw One In' scorelines to be found too. Say it quietly but we were beaten 6-3 at Blackburn in 1926, made more remarkable given that with 12 minutes to go we were trailing 2-0.

The next time we played on this date was in 1937 and we went one better (or worse) with a 7-3 defeat at Leicester. This one wasn't quite as dramatic at the end but seven of the ten goals were scored in the last half hour after we'd trailed 2-1.

We conceded four at West Brom in 1920 and at Manchester City in 1948 (both 4-1) during those early defeats.

Having beaten Sheffield Wednesday at home in 1965 we've actually won more than we've lost but there was still a sorry defeat in there, a 4-0 loss at Coventry in 2004 which ended a week when the players had all been taken away for a week in Spain.

Wasn't that Coventry debacle the first match after Stan had signed a new 3 year contract?

I seem to remember being freezing cold at Highfield Rd that day and thinking "My God , are we in for another 3 years of this???"

"CT,11th paragraph should it read 16 games without a win?"

It should, and does now.

"Wasn't that Coventry debacle the first match after Stan had signed a new 3 year contract?"

No, was in his last season in charge.
