My personal favourite was:

'We know what we are - champions of England"

To which I sang:

'Oil bought what you are... - champions of England, Oil bought what you are.'

It's hilarious that Manchester City fans, of all people, are singing "where were you when you were ****?"

I seem to remember getting wet at many crumbling football palaces in the open air, rain sheeting down and a small but vocal Burnley crowd letting the bopposition know we were there!

Appen I misheard? I thought Burnley sang 'where were you...' etc, and Man City replied 'feed the goat'?

You heard correct, dd.

What I heard was us singing 'Where were you when you were sh!t' to which the City fans replied 'Beating you when we were sh1t'.

Fair play.

I thought it was the City fans singing "we were here when we were sh*t" ?

I heard it the same as enola_gay.

They were quiet for a full Cricket Field end, mind.

In fairness the Burnley warriors did not give them much to sing about..!

"Where are you now you're good" would be a more apt response for City given their **** poor Champions League turn outs.

You heard wrong, Bobz.

Burnley fans sang 'Where were you when you were sh*t'
(I was cringing at that point because City fans stuck with them even in the 3rd Division)

City fans sang in response 'We were here when we were sh*t'

Never really got the grief fans give City fans for being glory seekers.

When they were in League One as it now is, they were the 13th best supported team in the country higher than 9 Premier League clubs with an average of 28k. Ours that year was 10k.

Gotta agree, the one thing you can say about Cite fans is that they were there when they were ****

The same can't be said for the other club of 'new money.'

Fair play to City. When they ventured into Div 3 for one season their support remained good. But they didn't spend 7 seasons in Div 4 and nearly disappear from view. Would have been interesting to see how many loyal supporters they would have retained under those circumstances. My point being they were never as sh1t as us, for as long as us. And here we are now. Beating their team of world superstars with a British side assembled on a relative shoestring. Their chant was laughable. Because I know where I was when we were sh1t. On the Turf. And other interesting venues.
