Remember the Everton Toffee Lady and the guy from Arsenal with the red tailed coat and white trousers? And we had a headmaster with a claret and blue gown in recognition of our "academy" for young prospects. Anyone know who this guy was?

I don't think he was anything to do with us bringing young players through but I remember the headmaster in claret and blue cap and gown handing out liquorish to the kids as he walked round the touchline.

Everton's Toffee Lady still exists - here she is on our last visit to Goodison in 2009.

There was Turfy Topper. Anyone remember him/her? I think it may have been during Jack Butterfield's time as commercial manager.

I remember some plump lad used to run round Turf Moor before matches, or was it at half time? Maybe both. He always looked totally knackered at the end.

"There was Turfy Topper"

Turfy Topper was a Jack Butterfield idea - but wasn't he just a logo type mascot for ties and badges etc. unlike the headmaster who was some dodgy bloke dressed up?

That was Paul Gascoigne in the 2000s.

I think Operation Yew Tree put a stop to blokes dressed as teachers handing out sweets

I didn't know Dave Bayliff but he landed the team mascot role at a good time. I think he travelled with the team to all the big games in the early 60s.
