Strange one, but our former midfielder is in demand - see link - view external link (www.clarets-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/pompey_want_exclaret_cook_as_manager_860280/index.shtml)

Maybe a manager of Burnley at some point in the future.

He has done an excellent job at Chesterfield and if Sean Dyche was to leave in the very near future I would have thought that Paul Cook would at least come under consideration

Too early for him to manage us imo. If Dyche went in the summer I'd want someone with Championship experience. Doing a great job at Chesterfield though and if he's got any sense he'll ignore any other clubs until the summer.

A Chesterfield fan at work far from happy with Pompey's timing.

He says Cook's done a great job, had to sell his star player in January and still kept them up there. They play some decent stuff too apparently, albeit in League One.

"had to sell his star player in January"

Eoin Doyle had scored 21 goals in 26 league games this season for Chesterfield but he went to Cardiff. Doyle had played for Cook at Sligo previously.

I don't know how he's done at close quarters but Chesterfield's record under Cook is outstanding.

I pray SD doesn't go, but if he did Warburton at Brentford is a big admirer of how Burnley do things. He worked with Dyche at Watford.

Know a couple of lads who often take in Chesterfield games.
They reckon they're playing some of the best stuff they've seen in ages.
Always rated Cook as a player with us.
Good to see him doing well.
