A QPR fan friend has said that Barton could be on his way to burnley. Out of contract at the end of the season and burnley need another cm. I personally can't see it happening however he would be a good addition. Has anyone heard anything similar? Or just a load bullocks?

I think your last sentence is the most appropriate

No Nay Never !

Not a Burnley type of player. Thug comes to mind, but obviously, I am not referring to Barton when I use that term ;D

XD XD XD Oh the tears in the stands would be delicious.

Barton's a good bloke for the most part and a cracking player, I'd be proud to have him in a claret shirt.

Quality player. It's a definite yes from me as long as there were appropriate termination clauses in his contract for bad behaviour.

It won't happen, but I'd love him at Burnley.

He's a good player and if Dyche wanted him then I'd be happy enough with it. However, I can't see it happening.

Reported in the Evening Standard when he was brought back by QPR for this season to be on 75k a week. End of?

"when he was brought back by QPR for this season to be on 75k a week"

What if we throw in a season ticket to The Park View Chippy ? ;D

"What if we throw in a season ticket to The Park View Chippy ?"

Well, we've already thrown a bottle of coke at him.

I do understand his wages are high at the moment but soon he will be on nothing and I don't think there will be many teams offering anywhere near that sum a week.
In regards to the thug comments, I imagine that's how a lot of people view Ashley Barnes an he is a cracking player for us.
I can't see it happening but for some reason I could see this being a Dyche kind of signing (no transfer fee and a hard worker)

Very solid player at Championship level.

I doubt we'd be willing to meet his wage demands, if we even wanted him.

Wembley09 - XD

No thanks, btw. Barton clearly has a screw loose and is more trouble than he's worth. And Sean surely wouldn't want him anyway, for that reason as well as any other.

''In regards to the thug comments, I imagine that's how a lot of people view Ashley Barnes an he is a cracking player for us''

Had to laugh at this, I'm sure nobody in the world puts those two players in the same bracket.

"Say what now?"

I'd either not seen or forgotten those episodes. I now change my mind on Joey Barton. He "IS" a thug !!!

A QPR fan friend has said that Barton could be on his way to burnley.

Shouldn't you and your QPR mate be on the sanity/insanity thread after having that conversation?

be a bit of a drop for him from his current 75k a week at rangers

He's about David Jones standard for me.
A good championship midfielder, very good even but an average to poor Premier League player.
Take all the controversy away from Barton and he'd have probably earned a similar amount to Jones.
Being a dick had made him a multi millionaire.

While I cannot see this happening. It certainly would not upset me if it did. Hard working battling midfielder who I think given the mutual respect I would expect between him and SD to curb his aggressive overkill would be a very good addition. As I said would be amazed if we got him but I'd be delighted if we did.

Post #21: That really is nonsense. Barton is a very good player, indeed.

I don't see it, maybe my dislike of him clouds judgement.

The day we sign him would be the day I send my season ticket back. Queue Imploding Turtle to tell me what a decent bloke he is as I'm sure he knows him well. I just wouldn't pay to watch him. The same would have applied to the likes of Marlon King and Lee Hughes.

Purely from a footballing perspective as said above he is a very good Championship standard player but not that great in the Premier league. In that respect similar to David Jones. I would say Barton offers a bit more. Im a big David Jones fan for the Chamionship though, his character appears to be the opposite and he's always the first to applaud the fans.

Always thought of him as a very decent footballer but also a complete and utter tosspot. Changed my opinion of him when he didn't go down holding his head like he had been shot by a Jap sniper when a bottle of Coke accidentally hit him on the head! Have him!

He's better than what we've got.

Would not be able to find it without Coach driver or Sat nav, then think he may struggle with the Sat Nav, however he is talented, gets dizzy after coming past Brum though

I have been watching Burnley since April 1964. Will stop if Barton is signed.

Seems like a strange thing to say about a Scouser who has played for City and Newcastle?

Zero chance of it happening. Burnley wouldn't pay the wages he wants.
