Looks like he is off to Bristol City from Brentford for 9m

18-08-2015, 01:45 PM
so was Dwight gayle we will see.

18-08-2015, 01:45 PM
Clubs have agreed the fee and he is agreeing personal terms.

18-08-2015, 01:49 PM
Now where've I heard that before!

18-08-2015, 01:50 PM
Hope it goes through before Saturday!

18-08-2015, 01:58 PM
We've got Brsitol City saturday after next anyway, 9m for Gray is pretty ridiculous though

18-08-2015, 01:59 PM
Aye but it's the going rate .;D

18-08-2015, 02:03 PM
Where have they got that kind of money?

18-08-2015, 02:05 PM
Don't they have a very rich backer ?

Basically he's had 1 season in the League and is worth 9 mill - I'll take stick for this but I care not - the game is broken .

18-08-2015, 02:13 PM
Would have liked Andre Gray at Burnley but only at half that price

9M ffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Luton supporting friend told me that they have a 20% sell on clause so on those figures they'll be getting 20% of 8.5M cos Luton received 500,000 fee.
So 1.7M goes to them

Just shows what a bargain we've got in Chris Long in this current market.

He supposedly outshone Gray at times at Brentford keeping him out of starting line up on more than one occasion.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Long making an impact on the first team sooner rather than later.

Hope you are right about Long.

If he's going for 8 million, this could be good for us at the Ings tribunal. Ings is younger, scored more goals than Gray in the Championship and then proved himself in the Premier League.

It probably won't make a blind bit of difference, mind.

The game has been broken for a long time - money is it's God.

18-08-2015, 02:59 PM
How on earth is he valued at 9m?? This summer's Ross McCormack.

18-08-2015, 03:00 PM
if hes only half as good as Andy Gray then he will be a bargain.

18-08-2015, 03:02 PM
Well at least we have our excuse lined up now for why we didn't sign any quality.

18-08-2015, 03:04 PM
Jeeze you really are boringly and repetitively negative in everything you ever say - Give it rest for goodness sake .

18-08-2015, 03:22 PM
Certainly makes sense to be looking at the European market for the likes of Hennings and Vossen if Gray is moving for 9m.

Is this another ex-Burnley manager buying the Championship

"Basically he's had 1 season in the League and is worth 9 mill - I'll take stick for this but I care not - the game is broken."

Hi lotty. I don't see why you should take stick for what you said. The game is broken. We're now seeing more and ridiculous fees in the Championship. It's true that Rhodes to Rovers (could be a good title) for 8m three years ago was ridiculous but it's becoming more and more commonplace. I presume Bristol City are ignoring the FFP because their gates aren't enormous and don't sit comfortably next to a fee of 9m for one player.

HI ecc - thanks for that .
I've been called many things on here for saying that by those who obviously think all is well with English football . Actually it's spreading now as foreign players are becoming more expensive . Obscene fees and salaries are only a part of everything that's wrong with the modern game . I cannot see things changing though sadly so for me it's quite simple - I'll pick out a few matches to attend at the Turf simply because of my lifetime love of BFC - nothing more than that which saddens me .

The game IS broken. But we're in it and it ain't changing any time soon unless Sky goes bust like ITV Digital, which is highly unlikely, so we have to get on with it. It doesn't really accomplish anything to keep whinging about it, just like Dyche's complaining about other teams spending money is pointless.

19-08-2015, 10:58 AM
one of the positives is that i'm worth at least 250k in today's market.

19-08-2015, 10:58 AM
Yes sir !

20-08-2015, 07:50 AM
Now that we haven't got Lansbury

20-08-2015, 07:51 AM
Can't afford to buy Lansbury yet you think we can buy Gray.

Cool story.
