We were standing on the Longside, Burnley scored, when suddenly Mr. spades asked me to marry him.

You think I can remember the final score or who the opponents were? I do know it was the 1962/63 season.

I think it was Aug 1950 0-1 to Arsenal but if I dreamt that then the first was Feb 51 two goals from Jackie Chew as we beat Spurs 2-0.
CT chose a cracker to start if it was the 5-3 FA Cup victory in the early 50's but I think he may have still been a twinkle in his Dad's eye at that time.

3-3-62. 6-0 vs West Ham. I'd pestered my Dad to go for ages but he always had a car full, which helped with the petrol. Then he got a no show. After a 6-0 I was hooked.

More likely CT's first match was the 5-3 win against Man Utd in October 1960.

Mine was the 0-0 draw at home against Notts Forest on April 3rd 1962 - just as we were starting to implode after looking certs for the title. Then we lost in the Cup Final.

It was definitely away at Tottenham and now from memory it was a 3rd Round FA Cup match in March 1966 & we lost 4-3 & there were hat-tricks for both our Willie Irvine & Spurs' Alan Gilzean

Burnley V Man City 3-0 September1973. My dad never took me or my brother on, one of those that says he refused to go on again after Jimmy Mac was sold. From memory it was because I had recently turned 8 and was on with my pal so nothing could go wrong. My pal nearly got crushed underfoot after the match going up to the back of the Longside and down the walkway behind the Bee Hole. I remember clarets much bigger than me forming a cordon shouting stuff like "watch out theres a young lad on the floor" and helping him up.

26th April 1975. BURNLEY 0-0 STOKE CITY. My dad took me in the Bob Lord stand for my first game. I have a feeling my second game was another 0-0 v Man City, when Dennis Tueart took 3 penalties in the game. I was on the Bee Hole for that game.

Burnley 2 Millwall 0, 22nd April 1972. Frank Casper landed the ball on the roof of the net from about 3 yards. We should have had 7 or 8.

My mother's first was Derby County, 26th August 1947 (first match back in division 1). Lost 0-2. 70th anniversary coming up year after next. In those days it was half price for ladies and boys - they didn't expect girls to turn up at all, especially not on the terrace.

Going back a bit further, I spoke to a very old lady (now deceased) who was in the main stand for a game just before the First World War (1914). She didn't remember the game, but she remembered Tommy Boyle was captain, and also that (being rich folks sitting in the grandstand) they had tea and cakes brought to their seats at half time at half time.

I have a vague memory of being 4 and some guy called Britton scoring to put us 2-0 up against Leyton Orient.....I think the game finished 2-1. The best part of the day was eating my fruit pastels whilst watching a conga dance pass by on the pitch in front of me. To this day i still don't know why our fans were dancing on the pitch. Hey Ho.

4-4 against Norwich in 75/76 season. I was 7. Noble scored all four, two of them pens. I think Burnley were 4-1 up and threw it away late on, might have been 4-2 can't remember.

This was followed by a 3-3 with Southampton, another 4-4 against Charlton, another 3-3 this time against Orient before seeing my first win a 3-2 vs West Ham.

No wonder in later years I used to bellow at Cotterills football.

I was at the Forest game (8-0) and it was played on a bright sunny day in 59 but it was autumn and a year when the summer went on until close to the end of October. Of course we won the Championship, that season but many players were complaining early in the season of sore feet due to the dry, hard grounds they were playing on. Stood with my dad on the Longside and Jimmy Robson netted, five goals for us.

Early 1950's I was taken by my Mum and Grandad to see us lose 0-1 to Derby County. The scorer, I remember was Billy Steele, a small Scotsman, but my and my Mum's favourite was our outside left (as they were called then) Terry Lyons. I spent several days being him in the back garden after that.(despite being right footed - but that would be OK for today's wingers!). I stood at the front wall at the Bee-Hole end and remember the crush coming out onto Brunshaw Road after the game.
