fed up with this pysh, buying the usual muppets the same old cheap pysh, feeling guilty then getting even crappier pysh in return.

Nothing will ever stop you participating in it-apart from peer pressure and I think over the next century we will see it gradually die out.

The way its celebrated might, but the mass consumerism and the amount of employment surrounding it won't I don't think.

I think the middle classes will stop celebrating it first. They will come to see it as an old fashioned relic and associate it with superstition and working class culture, both of which they are anxious to distance themselves from. The working classes of course seeking to become middle class will follow them. I reckon this will take place over the next twenty years.
