View Full Version : ON THIS DAY: Long run without a win comes to an end

When Tony Morley and Brian Hall scored to give us a 2-1 win against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on 14th April 1979, I don't think anyone could have believed it would be more than 200 days before we would next win a game.

That Ewood win took us to seventh in the Second Division but we followed that with two draws and six defeats in the remaining eight games leaving us in 13th place. In the following 1979/80 season, we went out of the League Cup at the first time of asking against Wolves, and in the league we were bottom having played 16 games, winning none, drawing seven and losing the other nine.

Our home game against Cambridge on 24th November 1979 is one of eleven league games we've played on this date. The record is good; we've won six of them, drawn two and lost just three whilst adding a couple of cup wins to that.
