Wins haven't been too easy to come by on 28th November in post-war football. We've played a total of eleven league games on this date; we've won three of them and lost the other eight and we've also suffered a home defeat to Stockport in the Leyland Daf Trophy in 1989.

We've twice conceded five and also had a four against us and they have been the three most recent defeats. We took a 5-0 hammering at Peterborough in 1987 and five years later we were beaten 4-0 at Bolton.

The other five was our last game on this date at West Ham in the Premier League six years ago. We lost the game 5-3 but the scoreline was somewhat flattering given we were 5-0 down with just over twenty minutes to play.

If it could go wrong it did so that day. Defensively we were as bad as we were all season. We conceded two penalties, had captain Steven Caldwell sent off for bringing down future Claret Zavon Hines and another future Claret Junior Stanislas scored their second goal.

Steven Fletcher scored
