He hasn't got a leg to stand on!
( thought I would get it in early )

Good news all round, except for the guilty man of course.

How can the minimum sentence be 15 years but with judge's discretion to lower it? Doesn't make sense.

A truly tragic set of circumstances and no amount of jail time will bring the poor girl back. I'm pretty certain a manslaughter verdict would have been awarded here. Not sure this is justice but the South Africans have their own unique way of doing things. Apartheid being one of them.

I'm sure it's justice. I find it impossible to believe that if you go to sleep with your girlfriend and then wake up in an empty bed and hear a noise in the bathroom, you would assume it's a burglar; I find it impossible to believe that if you hear a burglar in the house and feel the need to get a gun, your first move wouldn't be to warn the other occupant of your bed. For it to be manslaughter, one of those scenarios has to be true.

It took a while, but they got there in the end.

Had I been him my first move would have been to grab a leg rather than a gun

He was just arsing around

I'm stumped....

one of the biggest miscarriages of justice seems to be only slightly offset by a crappy compromise. he is a murderer.

He could run.
But couldn't hide.

I never doubted his murderous guilt. Apparently the relationship wasn't consumated. She must have mocked his stumps or summat and he lost it.

They will not let him have any blades in prison

I was surprised when he wasn't sentenced for murder first time around. I couldn't see how his story would possibly hold up in court. His alleged actions were just too illogical so I think they've got it right this time.
