Okay, who do you
a) reckon we'll get (subject of course to results this weekend) - and
b) who would you rather we did get?

a) Rochdale - we always seem to keep getting this lot - about time to pay them back for once?

b) Chelsea away - one big pay day and go out in style?

jolly_roger
04-12-2015, 06:34 PM
(a) Hartlepool after they win tonight
(b) Man Utd at the NYS (or Arsenal)

Deepmidwinter
04-12-2015, 07:04 PM
Doesn't really matter who we get because at 4.45 we'll be saying that at least now we can concentrate on survival.

sawmiller
04-12-2015, 07:13 PM
I really hope not Deepmidwinter, we are overdue either a decent draw/payday or a decent run in this competition

Deepmidwinter

Be nice to think so sawmiller, but the cup seems to bring out the worst in us lately

gorky
04-12-2015, 07:28 PM
a) Forest Green at home and we'll lose

b) Newcastle away and we'll win!

sawmiller
04-12-2015, 07:36 PM
That about sums us up traditionally in the Cup - win when we shouldn't, and lose when we shouldn't

Deepmidwinter
04-12-2015, 07:45 PM
Not very often that we win when we shouldn't though

sawmiller

Ronnie and his lads in the spotlight tonight - anyone watching it?

mikemiller

Salford C v Hartlepool live on BBC 2 - kicks off in 5 minutes

sawmiller

1-0 Pool - penalty. Ronnie looking impassive - long way to go though

Salford have equalised - Hartlepool defence slow to react to danger in goalmouth

We'll get someone like Ipswich away but i hope we get Man Utd away with 9000 millers fans there.

yes, where have we seen defending like that before?

mikemiller
04-12-2015, 08:43 PM
Thinking the same myself

HT 1-1

millers88
04-12-2015, 08:45 PM
They need shooting those defenders

sawmiller
04-12-2015, 08:49 PM
They need organising - seem to be allowing themselves to be pushed around and giving Salford too much space. I wouldn't want to go to Salford - they really get into the faces of their opponents.

sawmiller
04-12-2015, 09:11 PM
James Poole of Salford and Greg Halford - separated at birth?

mikemiller
04-12-2015, 09:49 PM
Finished 1-1, so Salford and Hartlepool both go into the bag for the 3rd round draw.... wei'll probably get drawn against one of them

Ronnie has just said that Hartlepool are lucky to still be in the competition

04-12-2015, 09:58 PM
I am sure I have read on here tonight that Kempo is 57,he would get a game for Hartlepool.Ronnie must have a heart like a lion.I hope the BBC do not show the replay if so I think I will be washing my hair.

Sunday FA Cup ties...doesn't look like any shocks are likely at the moment...
Quite fancied Welling away (we've never played them), but they are getting hammered
Bury already through

Stoke away

Personally Brin, I'd prefer a tough match rather than one we were expected to win.

It will be somebody away that has you looking for where it is on Google

So you think it's going to be Liverpool too?

sawmiller
07-12-2015, 07:08 PM
Would love Liverpool at NYS - anyone who will bring in some good revenue. If away, how much of the gate receipts do clubs get?

What's the betting that the big boys get drawn together yet again?

CAMiller
07-12-2015, 07:09 PM
Just a cautionary note to everyone. Due to FA confidentiality rules, if anyone posts on here who we are playing before the draw is made I will have to red card them. You have been warned.

Don't know if im happy with this draw or not, i didn't want a championship club away but its Leeds and Steve Evans so should be another battle. Hopefully cheaper match tickets this time be shall see.

To be honest I'm completely and utterly underwhelmed with it.

It's not got the "glamour" of those Millers v Leeds cup ties back in the 70s (I went to the match at Millmoor and the replay at Elland Rd. - great games)

CAMiller
07-12-2015, 11:04 PM
By eck Mikemiller them were t'days. First game at Millmoor was postponed 100 times due to weather (we used to get real fog and frost in my day) and when it was finally played ended 0-0. Replay in a foggy Leeds (did I mention we got real fog in my days) saw us take a 2-1 lead only to finally lose it 3-2 after they kicked Trevor Womble up the Orinoco. To top it all t'match were shown on Sportsnight with Coleman....

...and you tell that to kids o' today and they wouldn't believe you XD

Pie Tax doesn't apply to away supporters (only those naughty boys in the South Stand who chant nasty things about Mr Cellino).

The two games v Leeds in 1971 were certainly memorable.
24,000 at the rearranged home game. The atmosphere was incredible. Initial abuse from the Tivoli was directed at Bremner but switched to Charlton after his ridiculous antics. It was amazing that the big dirty barsteward stayed on the pitch.
I met Seamus McDonagh later that year on a train to London. As far as I can recall he was going down to meet up with England Youth, although he went on to play for Ireland seniors.
Roy Tunks was in goal for the Leeds game but Seamus was with the Millers at that time.
He told me and my mate that Bremner had a word in Trevor Phillips ear ( I think Phillips came on as sub) to the effect "don't effin mix it pal" . Being no respecter of reputations Trev clattered Bremner at the first opportunity. Bremner had another word, warning Trevor that he would be sorted out at Elland Road. Phillips advised Bremner that he (Bremner) might not make the replay. Bremner didn't make the replay

Yes, "Dirty Leeds" defintely lived up to their nickname, especially in the replay. The Millers played in a very attacking style in the replay. It seemed to catch Leeds unawares, and even though Leeds had 11 internationals (I think!) on the pitch,.we almost knocked them out.
That Millers team should have been able to acheve promotion back to the old Division 2, but didn;t quite manage it.

Leeds were top of the old league one when we played them. In fact they were still top when they had played their last fixture of the season. Arsenal still had a game to play though, away to Spurs the following Monday (that would never happen today). Arsenal beat Spurs and won the league.
The following season Leeds won the cup and they went into their last game, away at Molineux, with a chance to win the league and the double. One of my flatmates in London was a Leeds fan. He got tickets for the Wolves match and I went with him. Wolves deservedly won 2-1 (allegedly fired up by Revie's attempts to "influence" the result) Derek Dougan had a great game and Brian Clough's Derby won the league. Cloughy was supposedly in Majorca when the Wolves game was played.
Strange night for me - I was in the Leeds end hoping for a Wolves win and after the match had to be on my toes to get away from marauding Wolves fans. I enjoyed the trip back to London more than my mate did.

Would be remarkable, wouldn't it, to go there and win again? Was the last game the first time ever that we have won a league game there?

I was told by a Millers fan that we beat them at Elland Road when they had John Charles playing - can anyone confirm? I don't think that it was a cup game thoigh

It was a long time ago... I think that my Millers mate was refering to the match that he went to in the old Division 2...
Leeds U 3 Millers 4 (August 1962) - he was only a youmgster then!

We have beaten them at Elland Road in league games before that date too.

I was at the game at Leeds 22nd Aug 1962 (was 11yr old) with a mate who had just started work at Parkgate Forge,we went on train and then caught bus to Elland Rd, won 4-3 Alan Kirkman scored 2 goals ( think Albert Johansson was playing for Leeds att 14096) according to one of my books we played Leeds at home a week later(unusual) won 2-1 att 20013. them were the days. Had a look at "Definitive history of Leeds United " website and found a press report...John Charles, Albert Johansson and Billy Bremner were definitely all playing for Leeds when the Millers beat them 4-3 at Elland Road. That Leeds team had been assembled at great expense by the standards of the old Division 2.....
...the Millers team that day included some all-time favourites like Roy Ironside , Peter Madden and Lol Morgan - all of whom appeared for a ceremony on the pitch at the NYS last season
