View Full Version : Nugent Sent Off

12-12-2015, 03:57 PM
Assuming he cannot play on Tuesday night that must be as good as a goal start for us!

12-12-2015, 04:01 PM
straight red for the smiling assasin! :)

90 + 3rd min

12-12-2015, 04:06 PM
Seems out of character. glad our players don't do that, its a long season.

12-12-2015, 04:14 PM
Next 3= Clarets, BHA & Fiddlers at Deadwood. Possible appeal might clear him for Tuesday.

12-12-2015, 04:17 PM
Well that now starts the match on Tuesday at 0-0. ;)

12-12-2015, 04:20 PM
Weird that we're getting all jizzy underpants over a player being sent off. Woo Nugent won't play against us. Cause no one else at Boro will score against us.

12-12-2015, 04:27 PM
BD, others are just probably aware of Nugent's record against us - simple as that really.

12-12-2015, 04:29 PM
All BURNLEY supporteres are but wouldnt expect a Rover to know his record BD

12-12-2015, 04:38 PM
BD isn't so much glass half empty, but glass smashed in an apocalyptic world were they've announced they'll be no more glasses. :s

FCBurnley, thats topical comedy gold. :)

12-12-2015, 05:32 PM
Right but, he scores against us. And what? Does that mean that we should all be celebrating a red card against a single player? When really we should probably look at our own ship, get it steady for conceding goals etc....??

12-12-2015, 05:46 PM
You know there is cracks and problems with your own team when you are celebrating the fact a future opponent may have 1... ONE player unavailable for selection.
Id rather have the optimism MY team would win no matter who the opposition had playing for them, but hey ho.
Suppose its a sign of what to expect.

12-12-2015, 05:54 PM
M4CCA, I'm glad you see the exact same as me. I'm not sure what people are on about.

12-12-2015, 05:59 PM
Who is celebrating?

12-12-2015, 06:10 PM
All players have lucky grounds and opponents. In Nugents case it's us. I, for one, will be chuffed if he doesn't play. It doesn't make it an easy game just an easier one. He's a bloody good player at this level.

12-12-2015, 06:32 PM
No in Nugent's case it's Ipswich, they did nothing but speak about it in the build up to the televised game last week and yes he scored again.

Nobody is saying that means we have won the game but he always raises his game against us BD so if he's not playing it is a positive, doesn't mean their other strikers can't bag one though.

12-12-2015, 06:53 PM
Middlesbrough don't ship many goals, (and we don't score many), so assuming Nugent doesn't play - and therefore can't score his virtually inevitable goal a game against us, it has to be a bonus.
Can someone actually tell us how many goals he has scored against us for PNE, Portsmouth and Leicester, and in how many appearances.?
Must be about 80% of games I reckon.

It's an attempt at mild humour, BD. A bit over your head, but many of us got the point.

Just to explain, Nugent has a record of frequently scoring against us, and the OP was pointing out that at least on Tuesday he won't be able to because he won't be playing. The OP, and all of us, are well aware that Middlesbrough will be able to play a replacement and that replacement may well score. But he was making a light-hearted sardonic point that we needn't wait for the inevitable Nugent goal, because it can't come.

Hope that explains the point of the thread. ;)

'It's an attempt at mild humour, BD. A bit over your head, but many of us got the point'

You do have to be a Burnley fan to get the point of this thread though. :)

12-12-2015, 09:26 PM
Hilarious. Thank you for your explanation, as I am too remedial to figure it out on my own.

12-12-2015, 10:04 PM
My pleasure, BD. I tend to take people t their word, and so if someone says "I'm not sure what people are on about", I tend to assume it means that they aren't sure what people are on about.

12-12-2015, 10:11 PM
Do you want a cuddle?

12-12-2015, 10:26 PM
It's the nearest we'll get to a goal at the minute!

12-12-2015, 11:56 PM
A cuddle? Yes please. Not from you, though, for preference. ;D

13-12-2015, 08:42 AM
No worries mate. We can arrange a cuddle from one of the many gorgeous Burnley Beauties. I'll be in touch.

13-12-2015, 11:48 AM
Wow. You sound like a complete tit by the way BD. I personally think it's great Nugent isn't playing against us, he's a fantastic striker at the top of his game. We like to win football games don't we? I think it's worth at least noting that Boro will be missing one of their players, which may work in our favour.

13-12-2015, 11:56 AM
Thanks wicked, appreciate the feedback. :)

13-12-2015, 12:23 PM
Care to explain the BereavementDividend ?

13-12-2015, 12:31 PM
Of course FCBurnley.

It's from Season 2 of Alan Partridge, a conversation between Alan and his secretary Lynne, discussing her recent inheritance from her deceased mother, Alan remarks about her nice new hair do as being part of the "bereavement dividend".

13-12-2015, 12:52 PM
Ah well of course that explains it. You ARE Alan Partridge :)

13-12-2015, 03:04 PM
What was your on the Rovers board ?

13-12-2015, 03:10 PM
I don't have one. I'm ClaretAndJew from a previous life before I was mega perma banned for something I can't remember.

13-12-2015, 04:03 PM
Maybe related to your previous unfortunate choice of username??

13-12-2015, 04:13 PM
Why? I had over 3 thousand posts with no issues. It was from something I said. But can't really recall.

13-12-2015, 04:55 PM
according to soccer base he has scored 8 goals in 13 games for Bury Preston Portsmouth Leicester against us so I will see it as a bonus if he isn't playing against us.

Nugent not playing is like having a one goal start! Happy days.

14-12-2015, 09:00 AM
BD if you don't agree with light hearted 'terrace banter' that's fine with me but stop trying to impose your attention seeking childish world on others. I'll bet even the Samaritins would put the phone down on you :D
