Today is a day when we've played 14 league games in post-war football, winning six of them, drawing three and losing five. We've also played four FA Cup ties with two wins, a draw and a defeat.

All of the cup games were in the 3rd round with the first of them coming back in 1970 when we faced Wolves at home. For 73 minutes the game remained at 0-0 but then it all changed once Martin Dobson gave us the lead. Ten minutes later and the tie was over. Further goals from Frank Casper and Brian O'Neil had ensured a passage to the 4th round with a 3-0 win.

It all went wrong for Burnley in 1976 when we lost 1-0 at Blackpool despite having a late Colin Waldron goal disallowed by a referee as bad as Peter Bankes. This result signalled the end of an era at Turf Moor with the sacking of manager Jimmy Adamson which led to other staff and many players also leaving the club.

Ian Moore scored twice in a feisty tie at Mansfield in 2004 to give us a 2-0 win. It was a game that ended with 19 play
