View Full Version : Barton gone. Who should we replace him with?

As the "Do One Airlines" flight exits into the blue yonder with Barton firmly on board, we now need serious midfield replacements.

Ashley Westwood is one hopefully.

Oliver Norwood?

PLUS at least 4 more? We also need to replace Dyer and Taylor.

Two additional, new wide men, an enforcer and a creative magician?

This will take some doing.

Yours please.

Michael Carrick on a 1yr with 2nd yr option if we stay up or he can walk for free if we don't.

Can't see us bringing in 5/6 quality players.

Maybe 3 plus a roughy with potential.

Also expect it to take ages for the first one to arrive (Deja Vu or Groundhog Day whichever you prefer).

Carrick would be wonderful but the way we have set our stall out we will never match his wage demands.

if Dyche thought Barton could do it in the PL for 2 years, he would have kept him and maybe Barton reslised he couldnt so was happy to drop down a level to carry on . He will be remembered at Burnley for being instrumental in helping the club get back to the top table rather than as an ageing hasbeen who got the runaround. As one of those that didnt want him to come, I applaud him for proving us all wrong and for no red cards-Hammers loss was certainly our gain

Sorry to see Joey go but we need at least two quality midfielders as what we have is not good enough with it without him.
Quality needed this time not quantity.

I wonder whether young Freddie is now ready enough and good enough to step up to the Big League?

Be marvellous if he is!

Barton Jones Marney, not sure you can carry three pensioners.

Is it a matter of a replacement? Any chance of getting Carrick should be given the utmost effort just because he is one of the very best still despite his age, whilst we forget how influential a fully fit Marney is to the team (I would suggest of similar influence to Barton). Space for some youth and flair in there as well as long as it ready to be realised at first team level.

PS The England team should have built around Carrick instead of hoping that the Gerrard and Lampard partnership would somehow click.

Are the recruitment team up to it or will it be the same old suspects being recycled.

Dorrans being mentioned, SD has a very limited list from which he operates.

I have seen no mention whatsoever of Dorrans being mentioned. :/

I hope this is just paper talk, whispers and transfer speculation.

Norwich are bound to be considering an overhaul of their squad following relegation.

Apparently Middlesbrough, Burnley and Rangers are all said to be showing an interest in Graham Dorrans.

Seeing that the Gers have just nicked Barton from us, I assume they are out of the picture?

Dorrans only joined Norwich on a permanent basis at the start of the 2015-16 season.

He hardly played for the Canaries, so why would we want him?

Need a bit more imagination this time looking for a Kante or Mahrez. They must be out there if Leicester can find them.
