Middlesbrough FC’s accounts have been released and reveal a steep rise in annual pre-tax losses to 31.9m after heavy spending to support Karanka’s promotion push. But we still beat them!!

The loss for the year to June 30 2016 was well up on the 9m loss in the previous 12 months .

Revenue went from 20.5m to 21.6m, but costs soared from 25m to 40m. Their wage bill rose to 28M - over 100% of their income

The continued losses again underline the importance of the club’s successful promotion challenge - and also remaining in the top flight.

They owe Gibson over 90M too.

No wonder Karanka went.

I'm sure the Premier League payments will help, plus if they get demoted the parachute payments would also come in handy.

Feel a bit sorry for Gibson a Boro fan through and through, I know he has plenty of cash, but at least he's spent a lot of it on the Club he loves.
