Hearing the sad news tonight that Keith Blackburn has passed away, never saw him play but knew him through working at a cash& carry along with Ray Crawford, proper gent.

Very sad to hear. I didn't know Keith very well, but one of the guys who played for a scratch team I was involved in lived near him, and when we were short of a referee one afternoon, asked Keith if he could help out. Sure enough, Keith cycled down to Southsea Common to Referee our game.
Not sure many current players would do that, or am I being unnecessarily cynical?
