The Swansea game has some potential to entertain I guess although I have trouble getting interested in these games. I think I will stream it though.

Has a British team ever won this competition?

Chelsea won it last season woody. I get what you mean about watching it, but i think now it's reached the last 32, games should be a lot more interesting.

Spurs should be 1-0 down, Brad Friedel denies Matheus in the space of a couple of minute, first one and he was one on one with him, but Friedel stood up well.

Ref in this one has let more challenges go than the ones that officiated in the champions league. Two debatable decisions, Paulinho taken down right on the edge of Dnipro area, ref only gave a free-kick, and at the other end Danny Rose and Matheus toe to toe, Mattheus goes over. Another ref would have given the foul and also sent off.

How was that not a foul? He basically punched him out of the way!

You could see in the replay that ref was going to blow up, but maybe he saw it as a foul in Rose's favour? don't know how as only thing missing from Rose was the shoulder pads ;D

Soldado blasts over from 4 yards out it was easier to score!

wolves71
20-02-2014, 07:17 PM
Fair to the ref for booking Zozulya for diving. How the hell did Soldado miss that?, ask Iwelumo or Kanu ;D

wolves71

Almost an instant impact for sub Eriksen, puts the ball in the net but only just offside.

Evewolf65
20-02-2014, 07:27 PM
Game a lot more stretched now more chances at either end.

wolves71
20-02-2014, 07:32 PM
Friedel has done well for Spurs tonight, made some important saves, he's kept Mattheus's efforts out on at least three occasions.

Bit of a soft penno award! I think they deserved it though overall.

Konoplyanka scores from the spot, off one post and across the goal and in, 1-0 Dnipro.

WOODLANDSWOLF

Spuds lucky to get out of there trailing by just that one goal. Second leg should be good. My, that Soldado sure was a good buy eh!

wolves71

Spurs look all over the place at the back, last free-kick and two players left open on their own. A let off with the header that came off the post. Game has been open, but home side deserved the win.

The Bale money that Spurs got wasted on Soldado and Lamela, both offer nothing to the club.

Yeah in the end they were lucky to come away only 1-0 down but in doing that I'd still put them in the box seat for the return at WHL.

Callejon going close and Hamsik effort turned away for a corner. Napoli have started the game well.

wolves71

A good open game, Swansea have had four decent chances, a couple for Bony, one for Dyer and Williams with a chance, but heads over.

Another Ashley Williams header, straight at sub keeper Reina.

I think since Laudrup has gone, Monk has them playing with an higher tempo. Michu has been a big miss, don't get wrong Bony is a threat but can't do it all on his own.

I remember when Swansea came to the Mol when they had been promoted and just watching them warm up before the match was an education. They were passing and interchanging at speed and they played the same last night but as has been said they can't score.

was that Emnes that played for Middlesbrough, Gav?

Weren't we supposed to be looking at him a while back?

Very true, i think they've had the better chances aswell woody, Bony causing the Napoli back line problems.

Swansea fail to clear their lines and are punished by Higuian, 2-1 Napoli. That Wilfred Bony header earlier is now being proved costly.

All over now, 3-1 Napoli, Inler with the killer third goal, right through the legs of Vorm. A good end to the game really, both Tiendalli and Higuain also had chances for their sides.

Spurs up against it now, I had to laugh at the commentator first half when he was trying to defend the booked Spurs player who had kicked another player in the head who was jumping for a header, if that wasn't high and dangerous nothing is.
Oh, thought Spurs had pulled one back, off sides, unlucky.

Tim Sherwood looks a lot happy now than he did in the first half, a good comeback, helped with the sending off of Zozulya. At least they look forward to the last eight now.

Counter-attacking at it's best there woody. I think they have a defence and keeper that don't give much away either according to the commentators before kick off.

I think they've been disappointing, Soldado in the first half with the best chance for Spurs. I expected more effort from them, especially for the 3k that have made the trip to Portugal to see them.

Ot of interest after the game I went by the Spurs board to see what comments there were. Waste of time, unfortunately it is another board that is almost dead on it's feet. A posterd "meatismurder", who I guess was a younger lad, was trying to drive it forward by himself for a while but I guess he has given up now. It is just being over run by trolls sadly. :(

It seems to be new bus stop for West Ham fans on there. There used to be good banter on there between the to sets of fans, but trigger happy mods kicked in as well.
