[quote]ANGRY Kilmarnock players have called in union bosses to settle a pay dispute with chairman Michael Johnston.

Record Sport can reveal the Rugby Park squad have revolted over what they describe as a “miserly” bonus package which Johnston has tabled as an incentive to keep the club in the top flight of the Scottish game.

It’s understood Johnston is prepared to stick up a pot of just £20,000 before tax to be split between the entire playing pool if Kilmarnock secure a 10th-place finish and avoid being dragged into the relegation issue.

As Kilmarnock have already done away with the traditional weekly win bonus system, Allan Johnston’s players stand to pocket just a few hundred pounds per man in May should they manage to secure the club’s Premiership status, saving the club a relative fortune.

Now SPFA chief Fraser Wishart is locked in discussions with the controversial owner in a bid to make him loosen his purse strings. More Scottish Premiership news.

It seems that everytime things start to look like going smoother,M.J. decides to cause disrest.I think that to many football stars get to much money, but M.J.should relise that you have to pay a decent bonus to encourage player to push that bit harder.M.J. REMEMBER,PEOPLE NEED A DECENT INCENTITIVE IN ORDER TO GIVE THAT EXTRA PUSH WHICH COULD SEE THEIR TEAM GETTING BIGGER BONUSES FOR BEING HIGHER UP THE LEAGUE

To get it in context - Killie players are being offered a miserly bonus for finishing tenth and avoiding a relegation spot.

There is no mention of what the bonus will be if we finish higher up the table.

Tenth, with our squad, will represent another failed season as we easily should be making the top six this season. To even give a bonus for tenth spot is a, well, bonus for the squad.

The bonus row between the Kilmarnock players and chairman Michael Johnston won’t be solved before the team take on St Mirren but manager Allan Johnston doesn't think it will affect their performance.

The Scottish Premiership returns on Saturday after the international break but with both parties still some distance apart in negotiations, off-field problems have been dominating the headlines.

Players’ union officials were called in to mediate talks with members of the Ayrshire squad who want parity with the other Premiership clubs when it comes to win bonuses and end of season payouts.

As it stands they are to share a cash pot at the end of the season, which will be split based on final league position and the number of appearances made.

But despite the unresolved differences, Johnston is confident his men will continue to put the situation to one side as they build on a decent start to the season.

"The directors are dealing with it but the players are fully focused on the football
