Your Team For Barnsley
No need for change going off what I've read about Saturday, even if Marney, McCann and Wallace are fit again.

---------------------- Grant ----------------------

Trippier -- Long ---- Shackell -- Lafferty

Stanislas - Edgar - Bartley - Kacaniklic

------------ Austin ---- Paterson ------------

Agree with OP, no need to change the winning side.

Would probably bring back either Marney or McCann for Bartley, no need to change anything else.

Think I'd go same again.

Understand the arguments for McCann and Marney, but we've nothing much to play for, and Bartley seems to have done fine on Saturday and he needs games to see whether he's a viable option for next season, so I'd let him get them.

The prospect of converting Edgar into a proper midfielder, rather than a centre back who can do a 'job' there, is growing on me - but he needs to play the rest of the season there to understand the role, I think.

And we definitely ought to be playing 4-4-2 once more.

After the performance against Huddersfield, McCann & Marney (in fairness not on that long) should sit tomorrow night out even if they are fit again.

Bartley sounds to have done OK on Saturday, certainly miles better than Marney & McCan were last Tuesday, so he deserves to stay there.

Also he was better in his cameo against Huddersfield than Marney & McCann had been.

Same as Saturday, if McCann and Marney are leaving in the summer as it appears they are, then in my opinion they should play second fiddle to Bartley and Edgar, with potentially the introduction of Howieson towards the end of the season.

"if McCann and Marney are leaving in the summer as it appears they are..."

What makes you say that braindead?

I know they have yet to sign new deals yet but I wouldn't go that far.

McCann especially would surprise me if he isn't here next season, and I hope he is.

If we can bring in a flair midfielder next season, and with Edgar converted to a CM also, I think McCann will improve.

The way I see it Crusty, there has been no noises from either of them about re-signing, also coupled with the fact that I would imagine both players feel they can do a job in the Championship and at a guess whatever wages we could offer would be doubled or even trebled by other, much richer city clubs in our league.

Marney also may not get many large paydays as he approaches his 30's.

I would be surprised if either player is here when we commence pre-season training.

I'm ambivalent about keeping Marney, and to be honest I'm increasingly ambivalent about keeping McCann, especially if Edgar can be successfully converted into a first choice option.

It we were to lose both of Marney and McCann, despite the recent emergance of Edgar as a sutiable CM, then we have to be looking at bringing two CM's in in the Summer who can go straight into our team.

Say what you will but Marney and McCann are practically starters for every game. If we lose that then that has to be replaced.

I think we definitely need to improve our midfield if we want to look to progress in this division.
Marney and McCann are both 'meh' players and have been for the last couple of seasons, they just don't get involved enough in the final third, so conseqently there is no link between midfield and our forwards, and McCann can't even spell tackle since his injury.

Replace both and start again imo.

Largely agree, but I'd be surprised if any other club would want to double/triple what we could offer.

McCann's not had a great season by any stretch of the imagination, Marney is the epitome of 'meh'.

I agree but will rearrange your sentence :-)

Marney's not had a great season by any stretch of the imagination, McCann is the epitome of 'meh'.

Even taking this into account both are light years ahead of Bartley, he is willing, although extremely rash but isn't up to the standard of a side chasing the play offs in this league, far from it.

We have seen McCann be a top player in this League in the past though, we have not seen that of Marney.

I largely agree with everything that has been mentioned but Marney has had some very very good days and McCann is never sh1te nor standout, the epitome of 'meh' I believe!
