The M69 Derby It should be more significant than it is. The grounds are only 18 miles apart, they should be our natural rivals. But instead we've tried to create artificial rivalries with the Birmingham area clubs whilst Leicester try to provoke Derby and Forest who are really interested only in being better than each other.

So why? My theory is that we haven't been equally matched very often. We were in Div 1/Premier league for more than 3 decades and were FA Cup winners whilst they only made brief appearances in the top flight.

And now the situation is reversed, possibly permanently with Lesta having a town centre stadium and the better crowds that occur as a result.

And so somehow it isn't quite the Derby game it ought to be. I don't care if we win it tomorrow though.
