Relegation - Yes Or No ?
Forget the 'suicide squad' or the 'blowing smoke up Lambert's arse squad', real question do you think we will be relegated, yes or no ?

Based on the fact we've won 5 games in 28 so far and we will probably need to win 5 games out of our remaining 10 to stay up, it looks a real tall order.

Personally I think we will be relegated, just down to form and facts to date :blue:

I Think we will stay up!
ive seen a change in our performances of late, we look like we are capable of creating chances, and once we get going i think we will be safe.
Defence looks a little better.

Man City didnt tear us apart.
there goal could have been disallowed, should have been disallowed the foul on clarke. i know rose tinted glasses and all that

And we should have had a late penalty, no doubt.

I have faith.

We are under pressure but i think we will stay up

Arran the nexy two games are the key for me. Get 4 points and we well on our way tsafetly. However lose to either one we will go. Theres a small gap forming from outhampton up so we must not lose those two.

Ask me after the next 2 games? It's been so long since we played well and won I can't remember feeling confident going into any game? Back to back wins put us on 30 points? I might just start to feel a little bit more optimistic :blue:

No, I don't think so.

Things are slowly beginning to click, and if we can shore up our defence a bit better, we should start seeing a difference. We played well against ARSEnal and ****ty.

(ask again in 2 weeks after the "six-pointers)

But we seriously need some experience in that team. If, and it's a big if, we can survive, we must add to the squad sensibly, and ensure we never get in this situation again. The young and new players are bound to benefit from this perilous season.

Yes, as it stands, it all will become clearer after the next two games as people are saying, but going on our current form, injuries and suspensions i suspect we may well be relegated.
I know this is a controversial view but I don't particularly mind, it will get rid of all the players who don't want to work for the club, or aren't loyal enough to stay for the promotion push. Also we will win more games, and experiece success rather than another season where the best we can hope for is a cup win and a top ten finish. Look what relegation did to Newcastle, everybody thought that they would struggle after losing their important players like Nolan and Barton, yet they came straight back up, and not only stayed up but challenged the top 6. villa are capable of bettering this as we have the nucleus of a very good team, we are the English Dortmund.

Being totally honest I don't know..

Like others say these next 2 games are really gonna be the key to whether we survive.

Can't for the life of me get my head round your way of thinking here J, seriously drastic way of getting rid of the dead wood and personally I don't see it being in our best interests to go down.

I think we'll manage to stay up, but only by just.

As for us being the akin to Borussia Dortmund. What have you been smoking J? Dortmund are a HUGE club, they are the 2nd biggest club in Germany and the 11th biggest club in the world. Their stadium has a 66,000 seating capacity, that's more than the Emirates can hold! We are not going to get relegated and then come back as the 'new' Borussia Dortmund.

No.

We are due a bit of luck and Wigan deserve to go down more than us. I say this because they have been looking like relegation candidates ever since they came up, they have escaped EVERY year, and well, i just want them to go instead of us!!

I wouldnt be surprised in the least uf QPR stayed up though

I just can't see us having the required turn around in form we need in such a short space of time. As mentioned above, we've only won 5 league games all season and the Liverpool and Swansea games aside, they have been scraped victories.

We are viewing the next two games as winnable, but have to remember that QPR and Reading will be viewing them as exactly the same.

If we do get relegated (I don't think we will) then Lambert should be sacked straight away. I also think that if we scrape survival he should also be sacked. The performance of the team under him has been dreadful, and it's not as if he has the excuse of it not being 'his team' (an excuse some fans use to excuse poor management) this team is a team of his construction.

We may have wanted him, but our wanting him is no excuse for how the team have performed under him. You sometimes wonder does he actually practice defending at Bodymoor. And set pieces, what the heck is going on there? We're awful at set pieces under Lambert. There really isn't many positives from how the team have performed under Lambert (Benteke, Weimann and probably Guzan, that's about it really.)

At the begining of Lambert's reign we had two experienced centre-halves in Collins & Dunne, Collins was sold and Dunne was out with a long-term injury problem.

All last season everyone commented that we needed experience in the side to help the 'kids' out, so you would think Lambert would bring in a couple of battle-hardened defenders to give the back four stability and a base to build from.

But what do he actually do, he brings to the club a centre-half in Vlaar that has an injury record as long as your arm and missed seasons when he was in Holland. And since he's joined the club Vlaar has missed nearly half the season with injury.

The point I'm trying to make is that our defensive frailties could have been avoided with some shrewd purchases under Lambert at the start of the season and yet he decided against this.

If we are relegated then Lambert has to take full blame !

re: Relegation - Yes Or No ?
even WITH experience we almost got relegated but at the expense of other teams we stayed up. all the cheap experienced players are at QPR warming the bench on 30k per week. Mark Hughes signed most of them. it's okay saying we need experience, but the experience we had was rubbish anyway. If Lerner's aim was to reduce the wage bill, experience would have been difficult to get for less than 30k per week. maybe we tried to go for 1 or 2 experienced players but was priced out of a move? who knows...the press don't know everything.

i think Lambert was hoping that Dunne didn't have such a lengthly lay off, he would have been a 1st team regular if he wasn't injured. all IFS and BUTS.

can't really say much without repeating myself from what i have said in other threads. we're just going round in circles.

I see what your saying bembo. Benteke is young and inexperienced but we couldnt have asked for a better striker. Its the quality of the player not the age.

Re defence.. Selling/giving king carlos away was dumb. He can play right/left/centre back better than any player we have.
Im torn on our defence. I see this defence as the worsed ive ever seen at Villa. The other side of me thinks how good a job Lowton Baker Clarke and Bennett do against a world class players against city. This defence might have potential as is so redicously young.
But there again I would like two proper centre halves.

re: Relegation - Yes Or No ?
As Bembo said we`re just going around in circles. We haven`t got experienced CBs and nothing`s going to change this season. We have to rely on the squad we have and just hope they can get us out of this mess and assess the situation at the end of the season. Hopefully then we`ll have a clear out and start next season better `prepared` (our motto) so the seasons we`ve had lately never happen again. We can`t go through this every season, can we?

Relegation? NO.

still no.

We've lost our last 2 games against top 5 sides by a goal each time.

Onwards and upwards

yes. because i cant see us getting enough points. good performances mean nothing if we dont win games. alot of people say we played well against citeh but didnt create a huge amount (apart from the one off the line). that, and silly defensive mistakes, will cost us. but its not the end of the world if we did go. the younger fans - kinda like myslelf - only know top flight football. but i wouldnt loose sleep over a season or 2 in the championship

In the unlikely event that we do go down then I would say we should hold on to Paul Lambert and let him finish what he started, anyway it aint gonna happen we are staying up, we are staying up, we are staying up, we are staying up ...

It was too close to call, if Kone had put that chance in at 1-1 last night we could have been going to Wigan needing to get something without Benteke to stay up!

I thought we would go down and had resigned myself to the fact after watching us play awfully, but win, against Reading but our one man team kept doing the business and kept us up.

Just relived now its over and we are safe, I really dont want to ever go through this again and I am sure I speak for us all there!
