PETITION TO SAVE LEYTON ORIENT FOOTBALL CLUBhttp://www.fsf.org.uk/petitions/save-orient.php
Hello to all football fans, Leyton Orient FC fan here.
As you may know the Government and Olympic Park Legacy Committee made a decision to accept West Ham Utdís bid to move into the Olympic Stadium after the games. This decision could threaten our clubs existence in London. West Ham Utd are a big club with a big fan base but when it comes to 60,000 seats they just simply donít have the fans to fill the stadium. The issue arises when West Ham Utd start to offer cheap / free tickets to the local community, Orientís community.
We are a club with a delicate financial set up and the loss of new fans and our ability to attract a consistent attendance would result in us being incapable of operating at League One level. This would force us to either move out of London or face unavoidable relegations.
This is not the first time lower league clubs have been brushed aside for the sake of saving face and saving money and this is no different. The Premier League rulebook itself states that No club is allowed to move within the immediate vicinity of another football club if it will cause an adverse and negative effect. Obviously West Ham Utd moving a stones throw from Brisbane Road (different Borough or not) with 30,000 empty seats to fill and the offer of Premier League football for next to nothing is GOING to have an negative effect on Leyton Orient. I was gutted for all Scarborough United and Chester Citys fans when their clubs had to close and I just cannot even begin to imagine that happening to my club or watching Leyton Orient falling from League One to non-league because of politicians looking for votes and greedy businessmen looking to line their pockets.
This is without even mentioning the £30+million loan the Council are giving to West Ham Utd to do up the new stadium when they move. How is this justifiable when the country is in so much debt and Council pay is being frozen and redundancies made.
If you sympathise with our situation and believe that what is happening is wrong, Please sign the petition and pass this on to others. It only takes a couple of minutes and will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the time you took to read this from a greatful fan,
Up The Os!
