the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
Well after the offers to drive him to Burnley last summer here we are this summer remaining hopeful to keep his services
his stock his high after a successful season where he showed a greater maturity and calmness at the back
1.5 million from Fulham?
2.5 million from derby?
is it just me or is this ridiculously undervalued?
Team player of the season and rock at the back for most of the season **** right off springs to mind.
re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
Dead right robin. Only Preston away from the top 6 conceded fewer goals than us(45 to our 46) but also only Notts Forest & Preston scored fewer of the teams not relegated.
Grant Hanley,Shane Duffy(in spite of occasional blunders)& Ben Marshall,3 of the back 4, are essentially the quality players that kept us up(also helped by Danny Graham wrongly judged as a bad loan signing by myself!).
The decimal point needs to go one place to the right, aka £15 million or £25 million for Hanley but that is why we need a manager quickly, before the vultures circle!
Hanley needs to be an integral part of what is next season for Rovers. All these 3 players are relatively young and will probably improve and thats the platform we need to build on.
re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
Yep, from what I saw of Danny, he was excellent a real hunger to prove himself out of and away from Wearside.
Just like with managers, you just never really know. When looking at his form there you would easily think well maybe he's lost his touch. Not a bit of it.
As with yourself ie DG, I had real doubts over Grant last term, this I put down to him being too immature to hold the captains arm band and with that faltering form. But credit where credits due, he's retained it and emerged a better player almost in a blink.
Now there's just my nose to put out of joint courtesy Mr Rhodes.
I am heavily on record as believing there isn't a Prem player there, well now I'm likely to find out.
However, him being IMO a decent honest pro, I will not hurt too much if he proves me wrong.
But I would be looking for him bagging a min of 15 goals in order to concede.

re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
He might well be ghost but he was one of very few good things to come from last season
Taking a poor offer just because we are heavily in debt would be massively detrimental to the club
5 million should be the minimum we take.
re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
You're not wrong Robin ! A very much improved player, i would not mind to see him with us..
Our board have still not recovered from spending circa 6-9 mill on gray. ;D
I think he would be a snip at 5 mill..
re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
If we take a low offer its clearly the start of ridding the club of its high earners, with Hanley still on a prem league contract I think..?
re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
High earner ! That counts us out..:D
re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
Now Colin Hendry has come out trying to engineer a move for Hanley to rangers
1.8 million still a joke of a valuation sadly nobody is available at the club to make a comment on this
unless a offer of at least 5 million comes in I wouldn't even contemplate any lower
much improved and current player of the season why would we let him go for peanuts?
being in debt shouldn't mean we should have our trousers yanked down.
re: the curious case of Grant Hanley part 2
I totally agree Robin.
However, if you had a chance to join a massive club, play in front of 50k every home match and be loved, would you go? Or stay at the club you got buckets of ****e from the joke fans who all stated 12 months ago he was crap and didnt even look like a footballer? If I was him, I'd walk. I'd have walked a long time ago after getting booed from my own fans.
its ok blaming every single thing on Venky's, the cretins who go and boo players like him are as fkn mental if you ask me.
He has never had the support from the crowd, so all this 'he is a great player now' makes me feel quite nauseus. Both him and Duffy have been treated disgracefully at times. But that knobhead-ness can be filed under
Bowyer
Keith Andrews
Mark Atkins to but a few over the years.
Fans have been shafting players they 'deem' (because they pay £20 at the gate to get in) not good enough for years. So although my heart bleeds at fans getting their boo boy taken away for such a
