Asked the same a few weeks ago IF the EFL "bottle it" then they're setting a dangerous precedent as they'll struggle to punish any other club (apart from us !) if it ever occurs again
In May, referring to the failure to fulfill a fixture, the EFL stated:
"As a consequence, Bolton Wanderers is now deemed to be guilty of misconduct by the EFL which will result in disciplinary proceedings against the club being taken at an appropriate time."
Nothing since then. When is the appropriate time? Possibly after the admin is settled?
You would think that the new owners would want to know before parting with the cash.
Only have 6 players on the books, so they will have some work to do.
Taylor, Forde, Smudge, Vaulks, Ajayi, Williamson and Towell. There's 7 they can have to bolster their side providing the price is right for some of our contracted players.
As for the other possible education, forget it as the EFL are spineless.

This article states they have 14 players contracted to the club, not 6.
The likely buyers are injecting £1m into the club to rebuild the playing squad, so the price for our contracted players would certainly not be right.
Salford might be a bit miffed if they sign Towell.
I'm surprised there's been no further news on disciplinary proceedings but wouldn't rule it out even now.
On Bolton forums their fans were predicting getting hammered "because it's us"
If they want to play the persecution complex game they need to have a look on here.
Was told by a Bolton fan that they are expecting another 8 points off.
I misread the article, Bolton have 6 senior contracted players.

The six players for those who might not recognise the names:
GKs: Ben Alnwick, Remi Matthews
Midfield: Jason Lowe, Luke Murphy, Erhun Oztumer
Attack: Josh Magennis
The rest of the players listed on the website are youth team prospects who have maybe a dozen first team appearances between them.
I think Charlton have had a bit acepted for Oztumer
